Starkey Hearing Foundation, dedicated to bringing understanding among people through hearing care, announced its illustrious roster of honorees for this year’s So the World May Hear Awards Gala scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minnesota.

World Poker Tour (WPT), the premier name in internationally televised poker and entertainment, has announced the launch of the WPT Foundation, an organization dedicated to utilizing WPT’s unmatched platform to influence positive change in the world.

WPT Foundation will initially support nonprofit programs in the areas of environment, human rights, hunger, and poverty and has announced its world-class charitable partners as Conservation International, ENOUGH Project, We Advance and World Central Kitchen. Beyond contributing extensive cast, brand, media and corporate resources, WPT has committed an additional $100,000 cash donation to the WPT Foundation.

Kim Kardashian marked the second anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti on January 12 by blogging her support for those still struggling to recover, and the many people working to help those in need.

“It is so hard for us to imagining waking up one day to find everything we own destroyed, everything we know turned upside down, our loved ones taken away in the blink of an eye,” she blogged. "But this was the reality for thousands of Haitian people, who had little time to grieve their losses and bravely started rebuilding their world.

“In December Maria Bello invited my mom and I out to Haiti to meet the amazing people who have made so much progress since the earthquake. I was amazed and inspired by how upbeat and strong the women I met were, despite everything they had been through. They took it upon themselves to start re-growing their economy and helping others do the same, and I have so much admiration for these women.

Kim Kardashian has spoken out about criticism over her recent charity trip to Haiti.

“As some of you know, my mom and I flew out to Haiti earlier this month to meet with Maria Bello and embark on an amazing journey together in Haiti," she blogged. "Our mission was to learn more about Maria’s charity, We Advance, meet the Haitian people who have made such amazing progress since the devastating earthquake in 2010, and celebrate the women of Haiti, who inspired me more than I ever could have anticipated.

“While my experience was completely life-changing… a very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget, some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things. The National Enquirer wrote that I went to a fashion show in Haiti and then spent a fortune pampering myself! The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living, and I bought some of their beautiful jewelry after the fashion show!! Reading this made me so disappointed in the media.

Kim Kardashian Visits Haiti For Charity

Kim Kardashian is reportedly on a charity mission in Haiti to help those in need.

The star is in the country with Maria Bello's charity We Advance, which aims to advance the health, safety, and well being of women throughout Haiti. The organization works in some of the poorest slums in Haiti, including Wharf Jeremy and Cité Soleil.

“She connected with Maria Bello and is there with Maria’s foundation and also with her mom,” a source told People. "Her intention was always to take the end of the year to focus on some of the other things that are important to her and this trip was one.
