Duff McKagan And Stone Temple Pilots Join MusiCares Event

Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Loaded, Velvet Revolver) and Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz are the latest performers announced for the ninth annual MusiCares Map Fund benefit concert, taking place May 30 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

They join previously announced performers Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) with surprise guests; Tony Alva and his band Chicken Noodle Project featuring Ray Barbee and Matt Rainwater; Early Morning Rebel featuring vocalist Nathan James, guitarist Dustin Bath and drummer Joshua Mervin; rock musician/songwriter Ida Maria with drummer Dave Krusen, bassist Jenni Tarma and guitarist Stefan Tornby; and GRAMMY-winning musician and songwriter Slash. Artist Mix Master Mike will DJ and comedian Andy Dick will make a special appearance.

Bennington, lead vocalist of two-time GRAMMY-winning band Linkin Park, will be presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award by Mike Shinoda, co-lead vocalist and producer of Linkin Park, for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, and for his commitment to the addiction recovery process. The sold-out MusiCares Person of the Year gala honoring Bruce Springsteen will take place Feb. 8, two days prior to the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

MusiCares Hosts Ticket Giveaway For MAP Fund Benefit

MusiCares will host a ticket giveaway for the eighth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit honoring Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell and Neil Lasher on May 31 in Los Angeles.

The giveaway will take place on the MusiCares Twitter page from May 22–24. Each day a set of two tickets to the benefit will be given to the first person to respond to a trivia question with the correct answer tweeted between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. PDT. Winners will be selected and notified at 5 p.m. PDT. The contest is open to legal residents of the United States and you must be 18 years or older to enter.

Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz has announced the establishment of the Jason Mraz Foundation, devoted to supporting a number of charities for which he has been a dedicated and impassioned advocate.

The Grammy Award-winning tunesmith heralded the Foundation’s launch on December 3rd with a sold out intimate benefit concert at the famed Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California, near San Diego, where Mraz began his extraordinary career by performing in coffee shops.

Long known for his many philanthropic activities, Mraz created the Jason Mraz Foundation to sustain organizations aligned with his four pillars of service: human equality, environment preservation, arts and education, and recovery and assistance.
