Sharon Osbourne is expected to attend the 2011 Women’s Guild Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Gala, which will honor Edward Phillips, MD and the 10th Anniversary of the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center — A Project of Women’s Guild at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.

The event will feature a dinner and special performance of Cirque du Soleil’s Iris: A Journey Through the World of Cinema, and take place on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood. The evening is chaired by board member and Executive Vice President of Women’s Guild, Gina Furth.

Edward H. Phillips, MD, FACS, is the Director of the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center. Dr. Phillips has practiced surgery at Cedars-Sinai for more than 25 years and is considered a leading practitioner, clinical researcher and authority on diseases of the breast, as well as laparoscopic surgery. He was the first to perform therapeutic micro-endoscopy of the mammary ducts and holds nine U.S. patents in the field of surgery.

The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) has announced that Revlon Brand Ambassadors Halle Berry, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel – along with America’s favorite doctor, Dr. Oz, and Jesse L. Martin – will host the 2010 EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women in New York with a performance by Trey Songz taking place on Saturday, May 1, 2010.

The following week Julie Bowen (ABC’s Modern Family), James Denton (ABC’s Desperate Housewives), Marg Helgenberger (CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Carrie Ann Inaba (ABC’s Dancing with the Stars) will co-host the Los Angeles Run/Walk on Saturday, May 8th during Mother’s Day weekend. Actress, model and pop music singer Lindsay Lohan hosted a special holiday collection fashion showcase for her new 6126 fashion line of leggings at Pure on November 7 in Caesars Palace.

Pierce Brosnan, Tim McGraw, Nickelback, Donna Summer, Keith Urban, The Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many other big names in show business have come together to support one of their own.

The stars have organized a special benefit auction to help Allen Shellenberger, the 39-year-old drummer for Orange County rock band Lit, who was recently diagnosed with a grade 4 malignant brain tumor. The auction, sponsored by The Make A Noise Foundation through Ebay’s Giving Works Program, is being launched to help offset Allen’s medical costs.

The auction will include autographed items by various celebrities and fellow musicians including an archive-quality signed and numbered giclee of a painting by actor Pierce Brosnan, a custom tattoo session by Aces High, a guitar lesson with Grammy-award winning guitarist Steve Vai, a “Baby Taylor” guitar autographed by Tim McGraw, a “Knocked Up” movie poster signed by Judd Apatow & members of the cast, a dinner with the band Lit, an original lithograph of a painting by Donna Summer, a guitar autographed by Staind, an amplifier autographed by members of No Doubt, Drum Heads signed by The Offspring, a “Stadium Arcadium” CD by Red Hot Chili Peppers signed by the entire band, and autographed items from James Taylor, Nickelback, Maroon 5 and many other one-of-a-kind items. Barbra Streisand has made a large donation to one of the most famous medical centers in Los Angeles, and the funds will be used to benefit women’s health.

In a statement made by the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, hospital officials have confirmed that the 65-year-old singer has donated $5 million to the facility for a new women’s heart center. The Barbra Streisand Women’s Cardiovascular Research and Education Program aims to increase the level of research into female heart disease, and raise the level of awareness in the community.

“Cardiovascular disease is the leading killer of women,” said Dr. Eduardo Marban of Cedars-Sinai. “The medical system has failed to recognize female-pattern heart attack systems; current testing and treatments are geared toward male physiology.”

Olivia Newton-John Steps Out For Cancer Treatment

Olivia Newton-John is to lead a team of stars from sports and showbiz, as well as cancer survivors, on a 21-day extreme challenge to trek the entire length of the Great Wall of China.

The 59-year-old star and breast cancer survivor will be joined on the trip by stars such as Sir Cliff Richard, Leeza Gibbons, Jimmy Barnes, Joan Rivers, Dannii Minogue, members of rockband INXS, and many more as they trek along the landmark to raise money for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre being built in Australia.

“They say the longest journey starts with the first step,” said the singer. “Since I was diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago I have taken many steps on my cancer journey. In recent times, the journey has been working with wonderful people to build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre. Now, I’m taking one more step on that journey – all in the fight against cancer!”
