Stars To Be Honored For Charity At Chrysalis Butterfly Ball

Chrysalis – a charity dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through employment opportunities – will hold its ninth annual Butterfly Ball this weekend.

The event will honor last year’s host, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, as well as Glee creator Ryan Murphy and Rush Hour director Brett Ratner. It was through Ratner that the organization connected with various celebrities, including Salma Hayek, Ice Cube, Nicolas Cage and action star Jackie Chan. Chan gave $100,000 to the charity, the largest single donation Chrysalis has ever received.

This year’s event will feature a special performance by the stars of Glee, and will be hosted by Randy Jackson and Mila Kunis. Rebecca Gayheart-Dane, Rick Hess and Dana Walden are co-chairs for the event.

A group of celebs were out in Los Angeles on Monday to help launch a new fashion store, and the dresses they wore are now up for auction for charity.

“Found By” celebrated its grand opening with a host of stars present, and will benefit Chrysalis with its new auction. Some of the famous faces who are auctioning outfits include Carmen Electra, Maria Menounos, Erika Christensen, Kate Mara, Dexter’s Julie Benz and Taryn Manning, with a whole range of different fashion labels.

Chrysalis is a LA-based charity that is dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through employment opportunities.

Celebrities To Play Charity Poker In LA This Weekend

A bunch of celebs and famous faces will head to LA this weekend for a charity poker tournament at the Commerce Casino.

The World Poker Tour’s Celebrity Invitational will feature over 100 stars of screen and poker, including Marlon Wayans, Eric Dane, Hank Azaria, Teri Hatcher, Jesse Metcalfe, Michael Vartan, Matt Lillard, Billy Burke, Zachary Quinto, Willie Garson, Benji Madden, Ricki Lake, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Tilly and many more.

The tournament will hit Los Angeles on February 20-21, and proceeds will benefit Chrysalis, a charity dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through employment opportunities. It currently helps more than 2,000 individuals a year change their lives through jobs.

The 8th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball will take place this Saturday, June 6.

Hosted by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, the event will feature appearances by Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon and Annette Bening. Also expected to attend are Amanda Bynes, AnnaLynne McCord, Courtney Love, Kevin Connolly, Nick Lachey, Ron Howard, Warren Beatty and many more.

Stars Design Watches For Poverty Organization

Singer Mary J. Blige is one of three celebrities to design watches to raise money for Chrysalis.

The 37-year-old R&B artist has joined with Eric Dane and Russell Simmons to design limited edition Ernst Benz Chronoscope watches to support the work of the non-profit organization devoted to assisting individuals escape homelessness and poverty. The timepieces are part of a collection entitled “Time for Change”.

“I knew that I wanted to support Chrysalis after learning of the organization, but after attending this year’s Butterfly Ball, I am even more dedicated to supporting this project,” said Leonid Khankin, Managing Director and Designer for Ernst Benz. “This limited edition watch collection is just one step towards raising funds and awareness for an organization doing incredible work to change lives and give people back their dignity.”

On Saturday May 31, stars converged at a private estate in Brentwood California to attend the 7th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Each year, Chrysalis helps more than 2,300 men and women transition from poverty, regain their dignity, and radically change their lives through jobs. And the impressive celebrity turnout speaks volumes to the good work being done by Chrysalis.

Rebecca Gayheart-Dane and her ‘McSteamy’ husband Eric Dane were the first couple to arrive.

“I feel very honored to be part of Chrysalis and that I get to do the work that I do,” said Rebecca Gayheart-Dane before the event. “It’s a great cause and this community has been so supportive and I so appreciate it.”

When Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller walk down the aisle on May 30, 2008, their guests will not need to bring along a gift – the generous Two and a Half Men star is rejecting presents at his upcoming nuptials in favor of donations to Chrysalis.

The couple’s wedding invitations include the request “no gifts, just donations to Chrysalis – an organization in Los Angeles that is dedicatied to changing lives through jobs,” reports the New York Post.

A source tells the newspaper, “Charlie [Sheen] has been working with the group, which gets people off skid row, for many years, and the money will go to towards the charity’s big annual gala, the Butterfly Ball.”
