Celebrities To Hit The Streets For AIDS Walk Los Angeles

Over 30,000 people are expected to fill the streets for the 27th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles this weekend, including some of your favorite celebrities.

Since its inception in 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has benefited AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), an AIDS service organization dedicated to: improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease; reducing the incidence of HIV infection; and advocating for fair and effective HIV–related public policy. AIDS Walk Los Angeles makes it possible for APLA to provide urgently needed food, dental care, safe housing, and much more to people with HIV/AIDS who also face poverty, hunger, and homelessness. APLA also runs the county’s largest network of HIV prevention programs to end the epidemic in Los Angeles.

The event takes place on Sunday, October 16, and among the celebrity faces you will see will be Drew Carey (“The Price Is Right”), Conchata Ferrell (“Two and a Half Men”), Barrett Foa (“NCIS: Los Angeles”), Dot Marie Jones (“Glee”), Carson Kressley (television personality and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant), Academy Award winner Cloris Leachman (“Raising Hope”), Pauley Perrette (“NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigation Service”), and Louis Van Amstel (“Dancing with the Stars”). Jenifer Lewis will close the Opening Ceremony with her performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

La Toya Jackson Joins Forever Michael Tribute Lineup

With less than a week to go until the Michael Forever Tribute in Cardiff, Wales on October 8th, Michael Jackson’s sister La Toya Jackson has announced she will be among the performers.

Having put music performances behind her for almost twenty years, she has decided there is no better time to perform from her heart.

“I have put musical performance behind me for roughly two decades, but there will never be another magical moment such as this to celebrate Michael with his fans to perpetuate the importance of his legacy,” she said. “I am honoured to share the stage with the incredible performers in this line up and am certain that nothing would make my brother smile bigger or brighter than this tribute concert. In speaking with my mother yesterday, I asked her where she thinks Michael would rather have us be, in this courtroom filled with negativity and lies or on a stage celebrating his music, his legacy and his life and she said without a second of thought, ‘Celebrating his Life with family and fans. I am looking forward to putting on a great show and making my brother proud.’”

Performers Announced For Michael Jackson Celebrity Charity Concert

Some of the stars set to appear at the Michael Jackson Memorial Concert in Wales in October have been announced.

Among the performers at Michael Forever, The Tribute Concert will be Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Craig David, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, JLS and Alien Ant Farm.

“We’re delighted that such exciting and globally recognized acts have joined the line-up to pay tribute to a music legend…We’ll be adding more amazing headliners in the days to come,” said Chris Hunt, president of concert promoter Global Live Events

Michael Jackson's Family Announces Celebrity Charity Concert

The life of Michael Jackson will be celebrated in a celebrity charity concert in Wales in October.

The show was announced at a press conference earlier today that saw Michael’s siblings Janet, La Toya, Marlon, Tito and Jackie – as well as their mother Katherine Jackson – gather at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

“We wanted to do something decent and worthy of Michael’s musical genius yet something fun and authentic that you would envision Michael attending with excitement and joy surrounded by talent that he respected and loved,” said Chris Hunt, president of Global Live Events.

Women In Film has announced that film and television actress Melissa McCarthy will host this year’s Crystal + Lucy Awards on Thursday, June 16 evening, in the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom.

Elizabeth Taylor's Charity Legacy

Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor – who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 79 – will be remembered off-camera for her philanthropy, her spirit and her unceasing generosity.

The Oscar-winning actress was an activist for those with AIDS since the virus first appeared in the early 1980s, courting controversy by her support in the face of the stigma attached to AIDS at the time. She was one of the first celebrities to publicly stand up against the disease, fundraising for the first major AIDS benefit ever held – a dinner organized by AIDS Project Los Angeles.

She founded the National AIDS Research Foundation in the early 1980s, and in 1985 she helped found the American Foundation for AIDS Research – better known as amfAR. In February 2011, amfAR honored Taylor at its 25th Anniversary Gala. Although her health prevented her from attending, she sent a message via her good friend and fellow AIDS activist Elton John: “I am there in spirit and I join you in saluting my fellow honorees and all these extraordinary leaders. I am inspired by their example, exhilarated by their vision, and encouraged by their compassion and love. And I love them in return.”

Their latest event, held in Milan, Italy on Monday 28th September in conjunction with Milan Fashion Week 2009 promises not to disappoint. La Toya Jackson To Honor Michael With Charity Song

La Toya Jackson is to release a song paying tribute to her late brother Michael, in an effort to raise funds for one of his charitable causes.

The singer recorded the track – titled Home – as a tribute to her family in 2003 and will make the track available for download via iTunes on July 28. Proceeds will be donated to AIDS Project Los Angeles – a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease, reducing the incidence of HIV infection and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy. It was one of many charities supported by the late King of Pop.

Jennifer Love Hewitt To Host Oscar Party For AIDS Charity

Jennifer Love Hewitt will raise much-needed funds and awareness for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) by hosting the agency’s 8th annual “The Envelope Please” Oscar viewing party this weekend.

APLA is rolling out the red carpet for “The Envelope Please,” an Oscar viewing party for celebrities, local influencers and VIPs from the entertainment and Los Angeles community. The exclusive black-tie affair, which has raised more than $1.2 million for APLA through its history, will be held at The Abbey in West Hollywood on Sunday, February 22. This year’s fundraiser is expected to draw more than 300 guests for cocktails and a lavish buffet-style dinner featuring a menu developed by The Abbey’s chef Eric Ernest.

“‘The Envelope Please’ is a time to gather with friends and celebrate one of Hollywood’s biggest nights,” said Craig E. Thompson, executive director of APLA. “We are thrilled to welcome our friends and guests on Oscar night to an important evening that supports APLA’s vital programs and services for HIV-positive people in Los Angeles and beyond.”

Soap stars from The Young and The Restless, Days Of Our Lives, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful will be out in force on Thursday, October 16, to kick off the annual AIDS Walk LA.

On October 15th, the streets of L.A. will play host to the 21st Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles!

The event brings out stars who are usually seen on the red carpet, not the pothole pavements of Hollywood. Joining them are thousands of stars who may never grace the cover of US Weekly, but who shine in the eyes of their biggest fans: family and friends.

Along with raising awareness of HIV/AIDS, the event raises money that benefits AIDS Project Los Angeles and neighboring HIV/AIDS service organizations. Thanks to the supporters who talk the talk and walk the walk, AIDS Walk Los Angeles raised $3.2 million last year!
