VH1’s beloved franchise VH1 Divas paid tribute to the great cities of soul music last night, including Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia.

The all-star diva roster included Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Florence + The Machine, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J and Jill Scott, accompanied by one of the most exciting groups of modern soul, The Roots, with Questlove and Adam Blackstone as musical directors.

In addition to the Divas, the evening included an incredible line-up of performers including Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Boyz II Men, Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius, Travie McCoy, Mavis Staples, Wanda Jackson, Martha Reeves and Ledisi. Presenters were Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah, Terrence Howard, Nas, Common, Sherri Shepherd, La La Anthony, and Archie Panjabi.

VH1 Divas To Pay Tribute To Amy Winehouse

VH1’s beloved, popular franchise, “VH1 Divas,” has announced a special tribute to Amy Winehouse at this year’s VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul with performances by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) and Wanda Jackson.

“VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul” premieres Monday, December 19 at 9 PM/8c on VH1.

The tribute will reflect Winehouse’s contribution to modern, London soul music. Some highlights of the tribute will include Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings performing “You Know I’m No Good,” and Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) and Wanda Jackson will perform her song “Back to Black.” The Dap-Kings contributed a number of tracks for Winehouse’s Grammy Award-winning album “Back to Black.” In addition, Nas, who collaborated with Winehouse on the first single of her current posthumous album, will introduce the tribute medley.

Jason Mraz Launches Charity Foundation

Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz has announced the establishment of the Jason Mraz Foundation, devoted to supporting a number of charities for which he has been a dedicated and impassioned advocate.

The Grammy Award-winning tunesmith heralded the Foundation’s launch on December 3rd with a sold out intimate benefit concert at the famed Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California, near San Diego, where Mraz began his extraordinary career by performing in coffee shops.

Since 1997, The VH1 Save The Music Foundation has provided over 1.8 million children with the gift of a complete education that includes music. The Foundation’s Ambassador Program, comprised of prominent musicians, athletes and stars of the film world who have committed to being the Foundation’s most powerful advocates and fundraisers, have helped raise over 1 million dollars to support the Foundation’s cause. Colbie Caillat Visits Children's Hospital With MusiCares

MusiCares recently hosted a special event with Grammy winner Colbie Caillat for more than 40 children and their families at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.

Caillat performed an intimate acoustic set, including “Bubbly,” “Realize” and “Brighter Than The Sun.” Following the performance, the children had the opportunity to meet and take a photo with Caillat.

Colbie Caillat To Perform Acoustic Show For Charity

On September 22nd, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation continues the Songwriters Music Series in Los Angeles with an acoustic performance by Grammy Award winning musician, Colbie Caillat.

This marks the third stop in the series, which launched in New York City this past May with a performance by Glee star Matthew Morrison and continued in Nashville, Tennessee in June with ACM Award-winning sibling trio The Band Perry.

Rocker Meat Loaf and his fellow Celebrity Apprentice contestants John Rich, Lil Jon and Mark McGrath have recorded a charity single together.

All four competitors from the current season of the reality show, will donate the proceeds from sales of ‘Stand in the Storm’ to the charities they have been raising cash and awareness for on Celebrity Apprentice.

Meat Loaf’s donation will go to the Painted Turtle (one of Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang camps for ill children); John Rich’s to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Lil Jon is donating to the United Methodist Children’s Home of North Georgia while Mark McGrath is donating to the Save The Music Foundation.

Glee’s Matthew Morrison is busy with two very special charity initiatives at the moment – one will see him perform an acoustic set in New York and the other could see your own Glee Club open for his up-coming tour.

VH1 Divas To Return For Charity

After a four-year hiatus, VH1 will bring back the legendary live concert event “VH1 Divas” by featuring some of pop music’s most talented female artists – Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus. The “VH1 Divas” concert will be televised live on VH1 on Thursday, September 17 at 9:00pm.

Proceeds from the show will go to VH1’s Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America’s public schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country, and raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for our nation’s youth. Since VH1 Save The Music was created in 1997, more than $43 million worth of musical instruments have been donated to 1,600 public schools in 100 cities, improving the lives of more than 1.2 million children.

For the first time ever, these leading ladies at the top of their musical game will perform together live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York. Jamie Foxx Voices Crisis Helpline

Actor Jamie Foxx has lent his voice to a crisis helpline as part of his latest film’s social action campaign.

Following his successful National World Train promotion for his new film, The Soloist, in which people submitted videos to the Save The Music Foundation, Foxx has now recorded a message for Nineline, a crisis helpline run by Covenant House, an agency that works with homeless children.

“Now kids in crisis will not only hear a reassuring voice but a well-known, positive role model,” said Covenant House President Kevin Ryan. “I’m convinced that hearing Jamie’s voice will be the difference for kids who might otherwise get scared and hang up before we can help. This is a tremendous gift to our kids.”

John Mayer To Duet With Jordin Sparks For Charity

Grammy winner John Mayer & platinum artist Jordin Sparks will duet on March 26, 2009, when Carnival Cruise Lines and Mayercraft Carrier 2 present One Splendid Evening, a special concert event to benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

Proceeds will help restore instrumental music education in America’s public schools and raise awareness about the importance of music as part of a child’s complete education.

One Splendid Evening will be held on board the new Carnival Splendor, Carnival’s largest and most innovative ship, while the vessel is docked at the Port of San Pedro in Los Angeles. The evening will include performances by Gavin Rossdale, Sara Bareilles, Erin McCarley, O.A.R., Guster and DJ Logic, as well as a meet and greet with all the artists. Guests will enjoy dinner, an open bar and additional live entertainment throughout the ship.
