The SAG Awards Ceremony Online Auction benefiting the SAG Foundation’s Literacy and Emergency Assistance programs is currently live until February 2.

The auction offers collectibles from many of the nominees including George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Brad Pitt, Betty White, and the casts of “30 Rock,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Descendants,” “Dexter,” “Game of Thrones,” “Glee,” “Modern Family” and more. Alec Baldwin Named As Ambassador For SAG Foundation

Alec Baldwin has been named as an ambassador for the SAG Foundation.

Founded in 1985, the Screen Actors Guild Foundation is an educational, humanitarian and philanthropic non-profit organization that aims “to enhance the lives of actors by investing in programs which help them in their professional endeavors and the communities in which they live.”

“It is personally important to me that SAG members support the SAG Foundation,” said Baldwin. “Through my involvement, I hope to bring greater recognition to its philanthropic and educational efforts.”

Celebrities such as Dennis Haysbert, Ray Romano, Tim Allen, Andy Garcia, Kevin Nealon and others have been confirmed for the second annual SAG Foundation Golf Classic on June 13 in Tarzana, California, hosted by Criminal Minds stars Joe Mantegna and Thomas Gibson to benefit the SAG Foundation’s Catastrophic Health Fund.

In addition to 18 holes of competitive play, the event will include a live auction and an Awards gala where prizes and special honors will be presented.

Celebrity Charity Party Follows Screen Actors Guild Awards

The Screen Actors Guild presented its coveted “Actor” statuette for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2010 at the “17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards” in ceremonies attended by film and television’s leading actors last night at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. The event was followed by an exclusive charity party.

Voting procedures to choose the recipients were sent to the nearly 100,000 active members of Screen Actors Guild nationwide. Morgan Freeman presented Ernest Borgnine with Screen Actors Guild’s highest honor, the 47th Annual Life Achievement Award, following a filmed tribute introduced by Tim Conway.

Honored with individual awards were Christian Bale, Colin Firth, Melissa Leo and Natalie Portman for performances in motion pictures and Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies, Al Pacino, and Betty White for performances in television. Screen Actors Guild originated awards for the outstanding performances by a motion picture cast and by television drama and comedy ensembles. The Actor for a motion picture cast performance went this year to “The King’s Speech”, while the Actors for television drama and comedy ensemble performances went this year to “Boardwalk Empire” and “Modern Family.” Screen Actors Guild’s honors for outstanding performances by a stunt ensemble in film and television were awarded to “Inception” and “True Blood.”

Ernest Borgnine Donates Time to Bring Fish Tale to Storyline

Screen Actors Guild 2010 Life Achievement Award recipient Ernest Borgnine has joined a list of distinguished celebrities who have volunteered to read on camera for Storyline Online, part of the Screen Actor’s Guild Foundation’s internationally-recognized Children’s Literacy Initiative. 

Storyline Online’s latest project-as read by Borgnine-is Marcus Pfister’s classic children’s book The Rainbow Fish, which tells the story of a greedy fish who learns to share with the help of a wise octopus.

Borgnine is no stranger to the undersea, as he is the voice of aquatic superhero Mermaid Man in the Nickelodeon smash-hit “SpongeBob SquarePants.” 

SAG Foundation Celebrity Charity Auctions Continue In New Year

The Screen Actors Guild Awards online auction to benefit the SAG Foundation is offering Red Carpet Fan Bleacher Seats at www.sagawards.org/auction now through Jan. 10.

This second auction in this year’s SAG Awards three-part auction series features 90 seats from which fans can see their favorite stars walk the SAG Awards red carpet, take pictures and request autographs. Up for bid during the Red Carpet Bleacher Auction are 15 sets of two seats and 15 sets of four seats.

The first auction saw items from stars such as Kirsten Dunst, Robert Duvall, Gwyneth Paltrow and many more.

SAG Foundation Launches Online Celebrity Charity Auction

The Screen Actors Guild Awards kicks off the first of its three online auctions to benefit the SAG Foundation at www.sagawards.org/auction with a Holiday Auction on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010.

Coming up in January, the Red Carpet Bleacher Seat auction from Jan. 3-10, 2011 will offer fans the opportunity to cheer the 17th Annual SAG Awards’ nominees and presenters as they make their way down the red carpet.
