William Shatner To Present Horse Show Donations To Charities

William Shatner, one of America’s most versatile stars and philanthropists has announced that he and John Sotoodeh, Wells Fargo LA Metro/Orange County Regional Bank President, will host a gifting ceremony and media breakfast to distribute checks to the charities supported by the annual Priceline.com Hollywood Charity Horse Show, sponsored by Wells Fargo.

The Hollywood Charity Horse Show is in its 22nd year.

The event will begin at 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 25th at Celebrity Chef Fabio Viviani’s Firenze Osteria, 4212 Lankershim Blvd. in Toluca Lake, CA.

Khloe Kardashian held her first ever toy drive in Dallas yesterday to benefit the local Children’s Hospital.

“As you may know, I already do a lot of work with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and now that I live here, I want to start doing work with this hospital,” she blogged before the event. "I will sign autographs, take photos, whatever you dolls want, as long as you have an unwrapped (still in the packaging though) toy for children of all ages (especially stuff for teens) to donate!

“For health purposes, we will not be accepting stuffed animals, or anything unpackaged for that matter, with the exception of books. In my past experience with this, I’ve found that fun card games and things the children can play with in bed always make the best presents. Here are a few examples of fun things to bring: Monopoly Deal, Scrabble Slam Cards, SORRY! Revenge Card Game, Yahtzee Hands Down Card Game, etc. Target or Walmart are both great places to find games like these!”

Stars Line Up For Charity At Nautica Malibu Triathlon

September 18, 2011 marks the 25th Nautica Malibu Triathlon, one of Southern California’s most anticipated competitions. Hosting some of the world’s finest athletes, philanthropists and celebrities, this event raises money for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Pediatric Cancer Research Program.

The triathlon event course consists of a Classic distance race that is made up of a half-mile ocean swim in the Pacific Ocean, 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run through Zuma Beach in Malibu, California.

Michael Jackson's Kids Give Artworks To Children's Hospital

Michael Jackson’s children – Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and ‘Blanket’, 9 – have donated 13 pieces of artwork created by the late singer to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The pictures – which include Mickey Mouse and Peter Pan – were presented to the Hospital at a special ceremony with La Toya Jackson earlier this week. Former “Entertainment Tonight” host Mary Hart, who is also a hospital trustee, arranged the donation.

Surfing Stars To Teach Cystic Fibrosis Kids

A host of surfing stars will gather in Santa Monica tomorrow, July 30, to teach youngsters with Cystic Fibrosis how to surf.

Along with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Mauli Ola Foundation presents its Cystic Fibrosis Surf Experience Day to get children and young adults with cystic fibrosis out in the ocean water to have a great time. The ocean air, which is an elevated saline environment, facilitates the breakdown of mucus in patients’ lungs when inhaled.

The special events will commemorate the opening of the 317-bed new hospital building at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which will open to patients on July 10. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles first opened its doors in 1901 and is celebrating its 110th anniversary of serving the community.

“I’m so happy to be part of the celebration because Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a very special place,” said Bowersox, who released her new solo album “Farmer’s Daughter” in December. “I’m glad to bring my music to the Street Party celebration for families to enjoy so we can all have a good time.”

William Shatner’s Hollywood Charity Horse Show will take place this Sunday, May 1, with special musical guest Sheryl Crow.

Shatner has been hosting the charity horse shows for the last twenty years – inspired after he watched an exhibition by children who were so severely handicapped that some of them could not hold their head up, yet there they were going through intricate exercises on the back of a horse. The program was sponsored by Ahead With Horses, a therapeutic riding group for handicapped children. In 1990, Shatner hosted his first charity horse show, and the event has become a major fixture on the charity calendar.

This year’s event – on May 1 – will benefit AHEAD with Horses, Camp Max Straus, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Hollenbeck Police Activities League, The Painted Turtle and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

International rock icon Vince Neil of Motley Crue and music industry leader Jeff Castelaz of Dangerbird Records, both fathers of children who lost their battles with Wilms’ Tumor, a rare form of pediatric cancer, are teaming up to launch a new joint fundraising and awareness initiative for their respective organizations -The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation and The Pablove Foundation.

On Tuesday, September 28th, the two rock n’ roll fathers will return to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where their children – Sklyar Neil and Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz – were treated. Teri Hatcher once again competed in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon for charity over the weekend.

“Thank you dear fans for your help for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles,” wrote Teri after the race. "I made it. I did not drown, I do however have many other funny stories to tell But need some rest. It was COLD so cold that some people had to be pulled out and I noticed one woman so disoriented she swam around the buoy twice before a life guard helped straighten her out. I ended up having to backstroke most of the way. But I made it and even ran, slowly, to my bike Tri team partner.
