Actress Debra Messing recently joined eBay to launch The Give-A-Toy Store in New York City, located at 35th Street & Broadway, near Herald Square.

eBay also unveiled a Give-A-Toy Store in San Francisco. The stores are eBay’s latest innovation that makes it easy for shoppers to donate joy – and toys – via their mobile devices. The holiday storefronts benefit Toys for Tots and feature interactive displays of popular toys such as teddy bears and trains that represent donation amounts from $2 to $25.

Window shoppers can download the eBay mobile app to scan QR codes on virtual price tags, which triggers an instant donation to Toys for Tots. As codes are scanned and donations are made, the windows come to life as animated toys celebrate and express their gratitude.

Scott L. Schwartz Returns To Chicago For Charity

This week, acclaimed actor and director Scott L. Schwartz will return to Chicago, IL to show his support for Alicia’s House Food Pantry for a week of fundraising events.

Scott will start off his trip to Chicago by visiting NBC’s “The Talk”, and re-visiting WGN on Monday September 12, 2011. Last year Scott helped Alicia’s House Food Pantry raise over $40,000.

Philanthropic Artist Kelly Harper To Premiere New Song

Philanthropic singer/songwriter Kelly Harper has a seventh song to premiere on Oxygen Network’s “The Bad Girls Club”. Kelly’s song will be aired during the show on Monday April 4, 2011 (check local listings for times).

Kelly recently returned to the studio with producer Rob Wells to work on her second CD that will be released fall 2011. Kelly has also been donating her time to benefit local and national charities, including recent appearances at the Scott L. Actor/Producer/Director Scott L. Schwartz recently accepted the honor of becoming a board member for Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting!, a nonprofit literacy program in Los Angeles for children who need the most help with writing and reading between the ages of 5-7years old.

Scott is aware of the importance of programs like these. He acknowledges the children of today as America’s future and wants to do his part in participating in this program. Scott would like to congratulate and praise Stephen Kogon for starting this program.

Darren Criss Busy With Charity Shows

Glee star Darren Criss spread a little Christmas cheer last month by helping charity at his Los Angeles concerts.

The actor performed sold-out shows at The Roxy in West Hollywood just prior to Christmas, in front of an audience that included stars such as Matthew Morrison. Audience members were encouraged to fill 15 large sacks with toys on behalf of Toys for Tots to be distributed to kids who would otherwise miss out on gifts.

The singer will also donate a portion of ticket sales to the charity.

Michelle Obama Spreads Christmas Cheer

First lady Michelle Obama visited a Toys for Tots distribution centre in Washington DC in the days leading up to Christmas, and helped sort some of the gifts donated to the needy.

Toys for Tots is a program run by the U.S. Marine Corps reserve that has distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children over the past 62 years.

And if that wasn’t enough, she then helped keep an eye on Santa as he flew through the skies as part of NORAD’s Track Santa service.

Kelly Harper has returned to the studio for a second CD after recently launching her song “Imperfect” on the Oxygen Network’s show “The Bad Girls Club”.

Kelly has been donating her time to benefit local and national charities, including recent appearances at the Scott L. Schwartz Celebrity Cupcakes For Charity event on November 20th and more recently, a CD-Listening Party at JP Edward’s Grille & Bar on December 18th in her hometown of Lewistown, PA. Both events benefitted the Toys For Tots Foundation. Kelly has agreed to donate $1 of every CD sold to benefit Toys For Tots Foundation and will help raise money and toys for the foundation at every event that she hosts.

Celebrity Cupcakes is a non-profit series of charity events that was created by actor/director/humanitarian Scott L. Schwartz (Ocean’s 11, 12, 13, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Changing Hands, Starsky & Hutch, etc…). Each event will consist of celebrities from all over the world. Celebrities are invited to stop in and “name” their favorite cupcake or have the bakery to design a custom one for them…

Each event will include a variety of bakeries that will create an assortment of cupcakes such as regular, organic and sugar free cupcakes for diabetics.

Richard Marx To Play Charity Show For Cystic Fibrosis

Richard Marx is to play a special charity concert in Dayton, Ohio, this Sunday.

The 13th Annual Celebrity Concert for Charity will raise money to support research into cures for Cystic Fibrosis, as well as the Martha Franz Fund at the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, which supports the needs of local CF families.

Richard has been involved with many charitable organizations throughout his career. He has performed benefit concerts for organizations including Children of the Night, Toys for Tots, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Special Olympics. In 1987 he donated the royalties of his 1987 hit single “Should’ve Known Better” to build a room at the NYU Medical Center where pediatric cancer patients can play while at the hospital. Perhaps closest to Richard’s heart is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which he has raised over $3 million for. He organized Newsapalooza in Chicago, an annual benefit concert to raise funds for research to cure the disease.

There was no shortage of celebrity appearances at the World Premiere of Bedtime Stories in LA on Thursday, December 18. But the film’s stars – Adam Sandler, Guy Pearce and Courteney Cox – had to share the red carpet with the Marine Toys for Tots.

This is the fourth year in which Disney has coupled with the Toys for Tots organization. Marines were stationed around large boxes of toy donations as celebrities such as Rob Schneider, Aisha Tyler, Kerri Russell, Courteney Cox, Guy Pearce and Adam Sandler graced the carpet.

Brooke Shields Helps Launch Million Toy Drive

In its annual preparation for the Christmas season, US charity Toys for Tots has found a powerful ally in Toys “R” Us and a vocal supporter in actress Brooke Shields.

The retailer launched its Million Toy Drive on November 3rd, aiming to raise $4 million through in-store and online donations and to collect one million toys in retail locations across the country. All money and toy donations received in Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores will help needy children in the local communities where the donations are made.

Brooke Shields helped to launch the initiative, saying, "As a mom of two small children, it breaks my heart that so many kids go without even one toy at Christmas time.
