Kristin Chenoweth talked to Reality Cares Radio’s Todd Michael Krim about her charity work last week, and revealed she is about to take on a new role – shoe designer.

The star – currently appearing in Promises Promises on Broadway – is well known for raising awareness of adoption and foster care, and told Todd she will design a limited edition charity shoe for ShoeDazzle to benefit the Adoption Institute. The shoe will go on sale this Fall.

Kristin talked at length about being adopted herself, and how that influences her work with adoption charities today.

Elton John was in New York earlier this week to perform at a special event for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Tuesday’s Hot Pink Party at the Waldorf Astoria was emceed by Elizabeth Hurley and attended by stars such as Bette Midler. The event raised over $4 million for the charity, with Delta Airlines donating $1 million and announcing they will paint one of their 767 aircraft pink to help raise awareness of the issue.

“The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is so grateful to the employees of Delta for their personal commitment to eliminate breast cancer,” said Evelyn Lauder, the foundation’s founder and chairwoman. “Since 2005, Delta employees have gone above and beyond to raise both awareness and funds for the foundation, but this year was exceptional, raising a breath-taking $1 million for life-saving research. This exemplary effort will truly make a difference in finding a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.”

British model and actress Elizabeth Hurley attended a special gala to raise money for breast cancer research in New York late last week.

The 43-year-old was on hand in Bloomingdales in the Big Apple to take part in the store’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrations, and personally flipped the switch to turn the retailing giant’s lights turn pink as part of their commitment to raise awareness of the disease.

Hurley has been a supporter of breast cancer charities since losing her grandmother to the disease. She has been a leading light in Estée Lauder’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, and created the “Elizabeth Pink” lipstick to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Stars Compete For Charity On Celebrity Apprentice

16 million people tuned into the first episode of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice on January 3, a show in which celebrities work to win money for the charity of their choice. Critics may argue it is a publicity stunt to boost ratings, but when $250,000 is at stake to go to a good cause, all is fair in ratings and charity.

The show marks the 7th series of reality television show The Apprentice, and features a return to the original format of a male team versus a female team. The men’s team named themselves Hydra, and the women have chosen the name Empresario.

Every week, the money earned on a project goes to the team leader’s charity. In the first episode, actor Stephen Baldwin headed the winning team, and the breast cancer charity named for his mother – the Carol M. Baldwin Cancer Research Fund – was the first charity to reap the benefits of male star power. Baldwin proudly presented a check in excess on $69,000 to the charity. His celebrity teammates include KISS bass player Gene Simmons, Heavyweight Boxing Champion Lennox Lewis, country singer Trace Adkins, America/Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, Ultimate Fighting Champion Tito Ortiz, and Sopranos star Vincent Pastore.
