Wayne Knight and David Alan Basche, along with other stars like New York Knicks’ Amaré Stoudemire, lend their time to Soles4Souls video project 50KShoes.com to raise funds for 50,000 pairs of shoes for children worldwide without them.

It is estimated more than 300 million children worldwide live in adverse poverty with limited or no access to footwear. Thanks to partners like ‘The Exes’ cast and crew and the 50KShoes.com project, the charity has distributed more than 16 million pairs of shoes.

The line wound around the Los Angeles Mission on Monday as Skid Row residents waited to get a new pair of shoes during the kick-off of National Barefoot Week. 874 pairs of shoes were distributed in Los Angeles, the first day of a week where more than 10,000 pairs of shoes were expected to be distributed in five cities nationwide.

Soles4Souls, the Nashville-based nonprofit, focuses on providing free shoes to needy people around the world. The organization organized Barefoot Week in an effort to provide new shoes for the homeless in the US. Sole4Souls collects and distributes both new shoes in the US and “gently worn” shoes overseas. Soles4Souls was started by professionals in the footwear industry who use industry resources to make a difference around the world.

Scrubs star Donald Faison and Price of Beauty’s CaCee Cobb will be handing out shoes at the Los Angeles Mission next week.

National Barefoot Week will be celebrated with the giveaway of several thousand pairs of new shoes at the Los Angeles Mission – as the Mission kicks off its 75th Anniversary Celebration.

Soles4Souls is the title sponsor the series of events nationwide (June 1-7), encouraging people to temporarily go barefoot and donate their shoes. Events will be held in six cities with nearly 10,000 pairs of shoes to be distributed.

Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity, has announced a complete line-up of A-list celebrities who decided to take off their shoes for a good cause.

What began as a staff shoe drive internally at NBCUniversal 30 Rock studios for the charity’s Japan relief efforts quickly caught on to stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Sir Elton John, sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, John Krasinski, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mariska Hargitay, Yoko Ono, the TODAY show cast, and many more. Jennifer Wilson, an NBCUniversal employee who helped initiate the celebrity shoe auction, said it was the kindness of organizations like Soles4Souls during Hurricane Katrina that drew her to help.

“I’m a Louisiana girl with family in New Orleans, so I saw first-hand the destruction, pain, and uncertainty that comes with a natural disaster,” Wilson said. “I started this to help those that helped us.”

Stars To Go Barefoot For Charity

Soles4Souls has announced its schedule for Barefoot Week 2011, which includes media events and shoe distributions in seven cities.

As it does each year during the first week of June, the non-profit organization will be distributing thousands of pairs of new shoes in the United States while it also collects much needed donations through shoe drives at schools, churches and community centers. The charity is asking Americans to choose one day during the week to go barefoot—at the office, at school or in public— to raise awareness for the millions of people worldwide who live in extreme poverty and can’t afford shoes.

“It’s an honor to donate shoes to help Soles4Souls as they do incredible things for the less fortunate people in this world,” said Jessica Simpson. “I encourage everyone to lend support.”

Stars Give Shoes To The Homeless

Hundreds of homeless men and women stood in line on Friday afternoon at the Los Angeles Mission, to receive free shoes. And they were not any ordinary shoes. The latest designs from Los Angeles based lifestyle footwear brand Creative Recreation were gracing the feet of Skid Row residents by the end of the day.

The shoes were donated through Soles4Souls, a nonprofit that procures shoes and gets them to those in need all over the world. Soles4Souls has partnered with the Los Angeles Mission several times in the past to distribute shoes on Skid Row.

Volunteers and celebrities will join the Los Angeles Mission on Friday to distribute new shoes to the homeless.

CaCee Cobb (Undatable), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), Maksim Chmerkovskiy, (Dancing with the Stars), Jayson Blair (The Hard Times of R. J. Berger), Tony Dovolani (Dancing with the Stars) are scheduled to appear along with other celebrities and volunteers from Creative Recreation to hand out shoes to the community.

Charity Soles4Souls will be there providing shoes to hundreds at the Mission, following the midday meal.

Today is National Barefoot Day, which kicks off a weeklong series of events organized by Soles4Souls to encourage people to donate shoes to those in need.

More than 2,000 pairs of new shoes will be given away to the homeless on Skid Row at the Los Angeles Mission next week.

Soles4Souls is the title sponsor of NATIONAL BAREFOOT WEEK (June 1-7), which encourages people to temporarily go barefoot and donate their shoes. Events will be held in six cities with nearly 10,000 pairs of shoes to be distributed.

At the Los Angeles Mission, celebrities and other volunteers will distribute the new shoes as part of this effort. Shoes are donated by manufacturers, shoe stores and individuals. Hope4Homeless, a UCLA student group, will also distribute hygiene kits at the event.

NFL's Chris Hope Hands Out Shoes To Nashville Flood Victims

Chris Hope, NFL All-Pro Safety, has joined Soles4Souls Inc., to help hand out shoes to thousands of people who were affected by the recent disaster in Nashville and the Middle Tennessee area.

The charity, during a massive 2-day distribution at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, handed out 30,000 of the 85,000 pairs of new shoes that they have committed to the area. Chris was joined by Country artists Sarah Darling, Tiffany Johnson and the Carter Twins.

On Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15, 2010, Soles4Souls will continue their relief efforts by setting up a “drive-thru” distribution at its new World Headquarters location. The charity’s address is 319 Martingale Drive, Old Hickory TN 37138 (behind the McDonalds on Old Hickory Boulevard in Old Hickory). On these days, the staff and volunteers from the charity will be handing out supplies, including shoes, toys and other baby products to people in need as they drive through the parking lot.

Emmy Award-winning actress, comedian and writer Wanda Sykes has teamed up with www.50KShoes.com to raise funds for Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity, and their ongoing relief efforts to the victims of the devastated country of Haiti.

Kellie Pickler Launches Charity Shoe Initiative

Kellie Pickler’s affinity for shoes is well documented. Her 2006 debut single kicked a no-account-ex-boyfriend to the curb in “Red High Heels,” and her current, self titled album closes with “Going Out In Style,” which expresses her desire for her final resting place…having her ashes spread in shoe department of Saks Fifth Avenue. But Pickler, whose modest upbringing allowed for little more than the basics, understands the realities of living without.

With that, Kellie continues her support of Soles4Souls and will team with Ladies’ Home Journal the “Look Good. Do Good. Feel Great” magazine, to collect new and gently worn shoes on Thursday, August 27 before her show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Last month, Look To The Stars brought you the news that Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt had designed a new vegan shoe. Now we can reveal that he is donating all royalties from sales to shoe charity Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to providing free shoes to people in need.
