Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock said goodbye to his distinctive Mo’ in front of hundreds of gathered Movember supporters, as he was shaved by Lower East Side barber shop Pimps and Pin Ups.

Model/actress Malin Akerman is a long time supporter of the cause and has been turning up at Movember events in her I heart Mo shirt. The Watchmen star also sports a mo’ of her own in a recent video she made to promote the charity.

Greatest Movie Ever Sold filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, has shaved down his trademark mo’ and will be growing it back to raise money for the cause this month. He will be celebrating the close of another successful Movember at the New York Gala Parte at Roseland Ballroom on December 2nd. Top Chef contestant and Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen star Marcel Vigneron will also be dedicating his top lip to fight cancer this Movember. Brody Jenner and other celebs that are showing their love for facial hair this month.

Lance Armstrong attended a charity mountain bike fundraiser recently.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a haven for outdoor activities and adventure, creating the perfect host environment for fundraisers and charity events revolving around fly fishing and bike riding. Casting 4 A Cure was a recent fly fishing tournament with all proceeds benefiting those with Rett’s Syndrome. Ride 4 Yellow, the first annual mountain bike fundraiser in Steamboat Springs, was attended by Lance Armstrong, with proceeds benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Ride 4 Yellow is a first year charity fundraiser benefiting cancer research, and the mountain trails surrounding Steamboat Springs and Marabou set the perfect stage for the charity mountain biking event. The fundraiser saw a turnout of over 200 different mountain bikers, ultimately raising $300,000 for cancer fighting charities. Among the 200 participants were seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and Marabou’s own Abi Slingsby, a mountain bike Master Guide at the exclusive Colorado mountain properties of Marabou Ranch. Abi is a mountain biking champion in the state of Colorado, a certified mountain bike coach, and a member of the USA Cycling Association.

JoJo Wright To Skydive For Lance Armstrong Charity

The 2010 Global Leap for Life is growing by leaps and bounds. This first-ever global skydiving fundraising event to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation now has nearly 100 skydivers set to “skydive for a cause” during the weekend of August 21st to August 22 … including one first-time skydiver sure whose participation is creating a lot of excitement nationwide – as well as hopefully encouraging others to “leap” into action and sign on, as well.

JoJo Wright, host of the nationally syndicated “JoJo on the Radio,” will join the skydivers across the globe to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer. A first-time skydiver, JoJo will be jumping at Skydive Perris in California – where, as part of the global “Leap for Life” fundraising effort, he will be part of this first-ever simultaneous skydiving event taking place in cities, and countries, throughout the world.

The leap will conclude “Make it Wright with JoJo,” a summer long initiative in which JoJo has lent a hand to a different cause every weekday. JoJo has filled his calendar by calling on his Facebook and Twitter fans around the world to tell him what great causes need his attention. It is currently week 3 of JoJo’s charity campaign. The daily installments of Make it Wright with JoJo will require anywhere from a few minutes to an entire day of JoJo’s time. Whether he is heading down to the local food bank, tweeting a link to an upcoming event, or jumping out of an airplane to raise awareness for cancer research, JoJo’s goal is to lead by example, and ultimately encourage people to give back to their community – even if it means just taking a few minutes a day to help support an organization doing great things.

The 21st annual American Century Championship golf tournament took place over the weekend in Nevada, in honor of Lance Armstrong.

For an incredible athlete who was diagnosed with testicular cancer, with a tumor that had metastasized to his lungs, this charity golf tournament benefited the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation and several local and national cancer institutes.

Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Jerry Rice, Taylor Hicks, Troy Aikmen, Don Cheadle and Mario Lemieux were among the 80 sports and entertainment celebrities and hall of famers who competed this weekend.

“This morning we launched I RIDE FOR LIVESTRONG, a dynamic, virtual version of the Tour of California, where I will be racing starting on Sunday,” said the super cyclist. "This online event allows you to create your own virtual bike, tell us who you ride for (a survivor or caregiver who has inspired you) and race through the California landscape using your story to invite more people to join us in the fight against cancer.

“When we talked to our partners at RadioShack about the campaign, they raised the stakes: If we can get 10,000 people to join the ride in the next 48 hours, RadioShack will donate $75,000 to LIVESTRONG. It’s an amazing opportunity and we are thankful for their support. But we can’t get there without your help.

Lance Armstrong Begins Work On Cancer Centre In Australia

Lance Armstrong has launched his Tour Down Under in Australia by breaking ground for a new cancer research centre in Adelaide.

The cyclist has been instrumental in raising funds to build the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer, which will house over 100 researchers. The facility will also include a LiveStrong Research Wing, and Armstrong has offered doctors at the Flinders centre access to the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s global network of researchers, philanthropists and political leaders.

“I am standing here today because I have been cured,” he said, "but it is important to keep in mind there are other stories – names we don’t know, faces we don’t know, stories we don’t know – which didn’t have the same outcomes.

Cycling legend Lance Armstrong is the latest star to donate to victims of the Haitian earthquake.

The star’s LiveStrong Foundation, has pledged $250,000 to relief charities to help in the rebuilding of the country.

“I think what’s on top of everybody’s mind is the earthquake in Haiti and the devastation we all have seen on television or the newspaper or the internet,” he said in a video message. "Some say more than a 100,000 lives lost.

Ben Stiller Goes Head Band-To-Head Band With Lance Armstrong

Ben Stiller has gone head-to-head with Lance Armstrong for charity – parodying Armstrong’s LiveStrong Foundation with his own StillerStrong Foundation.

The comedy actor is selling headbands for Save the Children, a charity he visited Uganda for earlier this year.

“With Save the Children, because I assume they know how to save kids, we are raising money to expand the school, dig a drinking water well there, and set up a self sustainable crop field to help the residents keep the school going for years to come,” said Stiller. “It’s only one school, but hopefully our efforts will lead to greater awareness for the education needs of the children in Haiti. If not, maybe it will bring the headband back into fashion.”

13 years ago, on this very day, professional cyclist Lance Armstrong – at age 25 – was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

This, however, did not stop him from winning the Tour de France in a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005.

In 1997, he founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Over the years, his foundation has supported cancer research and education, as well as awareness and advocacy campaigns all around the world.

Lance Armstrong and the Lance Armstrong Foundation are looking for volunteers to help out at a major conference in Ireland later this month.

The LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit will take place in Dublin between August 24-26 and will attract over 500 delegates – including health ministers and representatives from cancer organizations – with an aim to urgently address the global cancer burden and introduce new commitments to cancer control by bringing together world leaders, corporations, non-governmental organizations and advocates in an unprecedented show of solidarity. More than 200 organizations and individuals making extraordinary commitments are being invited to attend the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with other advocates, network, gain media exposure and access tools and resources.

The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) is the main venue for the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit. Other event venues include Dublin Castle and the Guinness Storehouse at St. James’s Gate. The Foundation is seeking around 250 volunteers to act as greeters, runners, and representatives.

Lance Armstrong has revealed the reasons he is riding in this year’s Tour de France and how you can help him find a cure for cancer as he competes for his 8th title.

“I returned to cycling this year for one reason: to fight for the 28 million people affected by cancer worldwide,” wrote the cyclist in an email to his fans. "We are making tremendous progress in this fight, but there’s still so much to be done. By next year cancer will be the #1 killer in the world and yet most of the world’s leaders lack any real plan to fight back. During my 20-day ride in the Tour I’m calling on leaders around the world to make major commitments to fight cancer worldwide – but I can’t do it alone.

Damien Hirst Decorates Bike For Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong is currently working towards winning his 8th Tour de France title, and for the final stage he will ride a special bike decorated by Damien Hirst.

The final stage of the race – due to finish July 26 – will see Armstrong aboard the Hirst bike to promote the Lance Armstrong Foundation, an organization established to give inspiration and empowerment to people with cancer through education, advocacy, public health and research programs.

The bike reportedly features a butterfly design.

The Giving Back Fund has released its second annual Giving Back 30 survey, a ranking of the celebrities who have made the largest donations to charity in 2007 according to public records.

Heading the list was Oprah Winfrey, who donated $50.2 million to the Oprah Winfrey Foundation and Oprah’s Angel Network to “support the
inspiration, empowerment and education of women, children, and families around the world and to encourage people around the world to make a difference in the lives of others”. NBA Star Charles Barkley Donates to Fire Victims

Last July, former NBA player Charles Barkley took a time out from the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament to check out the damage caused by a fire that swept through South Lake Tahoe. After seeing the fire’s devastation, Barkley donated $25,000 and also promised to send a generous donation to support the fire victims. And this week, as promised, the 11-Time NBA ALL Star sent the Community Disaster Resource Center (CDRC) for Angora fire victims a check for $100,000.

“This additional aid is coming at a time when the plight of the survivors has passed from many minds, and the need is greater than ever,” said CDRC Board Chairman Dick Schwarte. “There are so many families in the throes of trying to rebuild their lives so that they can stay here in South Lake, and these additional funds will enable us to assist those individuals in response to their requests.”

The Angora Fire was a wind-driven fire that started near a North Upper Truckee Road subdivision near Angora Lakes, Fallen Leaf Lake, and South Lake Tahoe in California around 2:15 PM on Sunday, June 24, 2007. The devastating fire destroyed 254 homes, displaced 3,500 residents, and caused more than $160 million in damages.

Oprah Tops Celebrity Philanthropy A-List

A list of the 30 largest public donations made by celebrities in the past year puts Oprah in the top spot.

The Giving Back Fund, which encourages and advises on celebrity philanthropy, compiles its list each year. President Marc Pollick said, “Encouragement-by-example is the main reason for the Giving Back 30 list.”

Oprah gave $58.3 million to Oprah’s Angel Network and her recently-opened Leadership Academy.

Join Lance Armstrong's Army To Fight Breast Cancer

Lance Armstrong is asking the public to join his foundation’s fight against cancer by signing a petition calling for changes to the US government’s health priorities.

President Bush recently signed a bill to reauthorize the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program, an initiative that provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings to uninsured and low-income women.

However, current funding will only cover treatment for one in five eligible women. Lance describes this situation as “not good enough”.

Lance Armstrong Party Raises $1 Million

Lance Armstrong hosted a fundraising party on Friday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his anti-cancer charity, the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

A barbeque at the retired cyclist’s home in Austin, Texas drew guests including Armstrong’s ex-fiancée Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett and Matthew McConaughey, and a total of around $1 million was raised for the Foundation.

Armstrong joined Lovett on stage for two songs, and told the crowd, “I hated losing and I hated rivals. And I despise, detest and hate cancer. This foundation is going to continue to be ruthless and relentless in this fight against cancer.”
