George W. Bush Announces Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon Partner Country

During a visit to the George Urban Health Center in Lusaka last week, President George W. Bush, Mrs. Laura Bush and First Lady of Zambia Dr. Christine Kaseba were joined by United States Ambassador Mark Storella to announce that Zambia will be the first Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon partner country, expanding the availability of vital cervical cancer screening and treatment, and breast care education to those in need.

Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon is an innovative partnership between the George W. Bush Institute, the U.S. Department of State President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) that leverages public and private investments and existing health infrastructures to combat cervical and breast cancer, the two leading causes of cancer deaths among women in Sub-Saharan Africa. The cervical cancer partnership will utilize the platform and resources at PEPFAR and will draw from lessons learned in the significant scaling-up of access to HIV interventions in recent years.

Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys And Demi Moore Direct Breast Cancer Film

Breast cancer is more than a disease, more than statistics. It’s people, whose lives are forever changed by a diagnosis. Their stories are the basis of “Five,” a movie that will premiere on Lifetime on Oct. 10 in collaboration with Ford Warriors in Pink.

Directors of the movie are Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Patty Jenkins and Penelope Spheeris.

“Warriors in Pink has always been about the courage and the strength it takes to fight this disease,” said Tracy Magee, Ford’s primary brand experiential manager. “This year we’ve really been focusing on people’s stories – the stories behind the disease. This Lifetime project ties in extremely well with our Warriors in Pink campaign.”

Stars Make It Pink For Breast Cancer With Celebrity Charity Auction

Throughout the month of October, eBay users will notice a pink hue to the world’s largest online marketplace.
America's Sweetheart Launches Love, Help And Hope For Charity

For more than 90 years, Helzberg Diamonds has supported causes designed to improve the lives of those in need, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and others. Now, Helzberg is partnering up with “America’s Sweetheart,” Olympic figure skating champion Dorothy Hamill for the new “Love, Help & Hope” collection, which raises both awareness of and money for the ongoing fight against breast cancer.

The “Love, Help, & Hope” collection is a new collection of pendants and earrings, each of which incorporate the ribbon that stands as an international symbol of breast cancer awareness. A portion of the proceeds from the “Love, Help & Hope” collection will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Hamill, a two-year breast cancer survivor, was inspired to create this new line of jewelry by her personal experience with the disease and the millions of women who are battling breast cancer nationwide.

eBay Hosts Massive Celebrity Charity Auction For Breast Cancer Awareness

eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace, makes it easy to help raise a lot for a cause by giving a little. Throughout October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, eBay is inviting consumers to join the fight against breast cancer by pledging their support to sell, buy or donate through eBay Giving Works.

eBay Giving Works, a program offering convenient, trusted ways for eBay sellers and buyers to support their favorite nonprofits, provides a unique opportunity for consumers to give to a cause they care about without reaching into their wallets. By simply looking in their closets, selling an item and donating a portion of the proceeds, a real difference can be made and a life could be saved.

“In fact, for the value of every laptop sold this month through Giving Works, one uninsured patient could get a mammogram,” said Robert Chatwani, Director eBay Global Citizenship. “Each person who takes part in this campaign will have an impact on the fight against breast cancer.”

Anthony Edwards Busy With Charity Initiatives

E.R. star Anthony Edwards has announced that $1 from every ticket sold to his new film Motherhood via website Fandango.com – during the film’s first two weeks – will go to charity.

“It’s fantastic,” he said. "Obviously breast cancer affects a lot of women in America. I have a sister who’s a survivor.
