Stars Want To Be Millionaires For Charity

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will make a return to American TV screens next week, with a special 11 show run.

Every night of the two-week run, a different celebrity will answer a single question to win $50,000 for the charity of their choice, and a host of stars have lined up for the chance.

The shows will be hosted by Regis Philbin and will feature appearances by:

Lauren Conrad
Snoop Dogg, playing for the Snoop Dogg Youth Football League
Patricia Heaton, playing for the Westside Pregnancy Clinic and Lighthouse Medical Missions
Shawn Johnson, playing for Blank Children’s Hospital
Steve Nash, playing for The Steve Nash Foundation
Katy Perry, playing for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Rachael Ray, playing for the Yum-o! Organization and the SPCA
Sherri Shepherd, playing for the March Of Dimes
Vanessa Williams, playing for The Maria Torres Emerging Artist Project at the Amas Musical Theatre
Wynonna, playing for Backpack Mission Ministries
A special “mystery” celebrity

The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s 10th Anniversary shows begin August 9 at 8pm on ABC.

Stars Design Necklaces For Charity Auction

The World Gold Council has launched its charity auction featuring jewelry designed by some of entertainment’s biggest stars.

As reported by Look To The Stars last year, a range of celebrities – including Debra Messing, Christina Applegate, Whoopi Goldberg, Marcia Gay Harden, Samantha Harris, Eric McCormack, Chris Noth (“Mr Big”), Lena Olin, Rachael Ray, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields, and Pauletta & Denzel Washington – have designed gold pendant necklaces incorporating a leaf motif. Participants will choose to have proceeds from the sale of their designs benefit their favorite charity or Jewelers for Children, the jewelers industry charity that has invested over $30 million in special programs to reach children whose lives have been devastated by catastrophic illness or life-threatening abuse and neglect.

Other charities to benefit from the auction include YouthAIDS, Right Action for Women, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Waterkeeper Alliance, Project Angel Food, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Hope for Henry Foundation – a charity which improves the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses by providing carefully chosen gifts and specially designed programs to entertain and promote comfort, care and recovery – Yum-o!, and the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.

The auction runs until May 7, and will be followed by a live gala event in New York City.

Clinton And Rachael Ray Unite For Kids' Nutrition

TV chef Rachael Ray is launching a charitable organisation aimed at helping children in the U.S. to eat more healthily, with the support of former president Bill Clinton.

Yum-o! will work with schools to improve cafeteria food, create scholarships, educate parents about healthy eating, and help fund charitable groups that feed needy children.

The organisation will work with Clinton’s Alliance for a Healthier Generation, and the American Heart Association to improve school food.

Clinton appeared on Ray’s TV show on April 26 to announce their collaboration. British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver launched a similar programme in the UK over two years ago, which has led to increased government funding for school meals, making healthier menus possible.

“Great food changes the entire quality of your life,” said Ray. “It’s just this great building block for families.”
