A gilded guitar, once owned by Prince, raised $100,000 in a charity auction recently.

The piece of music history was purchased by race car driver Lewis Hamilton. The proceeds will help fund art, education, and environmental projects for New York City’s Harlem Children’s Zone.

The Alliance for Digital Equality met on January 15 at University of Southern California with a crowd consisting of politicians, executives, celebrities and people concerned about the digital divide.

The Alliance for Digital Equality (ADE) is a non-profit consumer advocacy organization that serves to facilitate and ensure equal access to technology in underserved communities. Hill Harper, Tavis Smiley and CNN’s Mario Armstrong served as moderators for the day long conference. Other celebrities in attendance included Malik Yoba, Sheila E. and several mayors from across the United States including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigoisa.

The Who's Tommy To Elevate Hope

A very special performance of The Who’s classic rock opera “Tommy”, benefiting the Elevate Hope Foundation, will take place on Thursday, June 19, at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. This will be the first appearance of the theatrical production of “Tommy” in Los Angeles in a decade.

Founded by Sheila E., the Elevate Hope Foundation raises funds to help assist victims of child abuse and abandonment through music and the arts. This special performance will assist in developing a more comprehensive Arts Enrichment Program for Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services, which provides 45 programs to nearly 6,000 children and families. Their goal is to provide educational and therapeutic services to families and children suffering from mental, behavioral and emotional challenges. Vista Del Mar’s therapeutic residential program provides services to youth – aged 12-18 – who have been moved from home to home due to such behaviors as aggressive outbursts and suicidal tendencies that are beyond what the foster parents can handle. Vista Del Mar is committed to providing these youth the best care possible.

On 07/07/07, Prince and Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics are to launch the 3121 fragrance with a surprise in-store concert and 24-hours of charity fundraising.

The philanthropic event begins at 12 am EST, at which point the 30 ml bottles of 3121 will be available for purchase at www.3121perfume.com. The 3121 collection will also be debuting at select Macy’s stores.

The fragrance will retail for $31.21, with 7% of each sale being divided between 7 charities chosen by Prince and Revelations.
