Paul Teutul Sr. has been announced as one of 18 contestants on the fifth installment of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice and is competing to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant more wishes to kids with life-threatening medical conditions.

Teutul is best known as the massive, mustachioed, tattooed owner of Orange County Choppers, a custom motorcycle manufacturer, profiled on Discovery Channel’s hit reality series American Chopper.

Teutul’s support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation dates back to 2004, when the Orange County Choppers crew granted the wishes of several kids wanting to meet them. Since then, the Orange County Choppers team has granted more than 50 wishes to Make-A-Wish kids and has supported its local chapter, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, by hosting events for wish kids and their families and inviting them to Orange County Choppers programs.

DoSomething.org, one of the largest U.S. organizations that helps teens take action on causes they care about, released today its fourth annual ‘Top 20 Celebs Gone Good’ list.

Lady Gaga continues her reign as the star who uses her celebrity to do the most good. Known for her support of gay rights, AIDS, and poverty, she focused primarily this year on bullying, even taking her thoughts to the White House in December. She also announced the creation of her own charity, the Born This Way Foundation, which aims to empower youth and lead them to a brave new society where each individual is accepted and loved as the person they were born to be.

Making a meteoric rise to number two this year is Justin Bieber, up from number 10 last year. His fast rise is due to his prolific work with Pencils of Promise, an organization that builds schools in Laos and Guatemala. Justin is also a consistent supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, raised funds for charity with his fragrance and holiday album, and recently distributed $100,000 to Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America has announced the recipients of its 22nd annual Chris Greicius Celebrity Awards for exceptional contributions to helping grant wishes to kids with life-threatening medical conditions.

13,800 wishes were granted across the country in the fiscal year 2010 of which more than 1,000 involved celebrities.

“For the Make-A-Wish Foundation, celebrities are not simply promotional faces and voices – they are essential to fulfilling our wish-granting mission,” said David A. Williams, president and chief executive officer of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. “Every year we like to honor a select group of celebrities who go above and beyond to create wish experiences that make life better for wish kids, families, and communities.”

Sports Stars Grant Wishes With ESPN

The 2011 edition of the critically acclaimed SportsCenter’s “My Wish” series, conducted in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation , will return Sunday, July 17, during the 10 a.m. ET edition aired on ESPN2. The series will continue Monday-Wednesday on ESPN with a new wish each day presented during the 6 p.m. SportsCenter.

Wishes include three-time Major League Soccer Cup champion Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy (Sunday, July 17), the Minnesota Twins (Monday, July 18), Heisman Trophy quarterback Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos (Tuesday, July 19), and professional surfer Bethany Hamilton (Wednesday, July 20). Emmy Award-winning reporter Chris Connelly will host the series for the sixth straight year, as ESPN chronicles sports-themed wishes granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The summer series, which has now granted 35 wishes, shows dreams coming true in the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Each segment will give viewers an in-depth and often emotional review, starting with how the wish is revealed to how the child interacts with his/her favorite athlete.
