Sofia Vergana To Host Benefit For Colombian Charities

BeLive – the event that raises much-needed funds for four Colombian non-profit organizations, Give to Colombia, Formula Sonrisas, Genesis Foundation and ArtNexus Foundation – is slated to happen on Thursday, November 17 at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, and will be an evening to remember with well-respected and recognizable television personalities and renowned celebrities.

Sofia Vergara will co-chair the 5th Anniversary along with this year’s Chair, style and fashion icon Lauren Santo Domingo. Sofia has been nominated for two Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for her role in the ABC Series “Modern Family,” broadcast in 81 countries around the world. Also joining BeLive is internationally renowned and Latin Grammy Award winner Fonseca.

BeLive will feature personalities such as Raul de Molina, Ilia Calderon, Rodner Figueroa, Jorge Bernal, Vanessa Hauc, Kika Rocha, Catherine Siachoque and Miguel Varoni. In addition, making a special appearance this year will be Felix Sabates and Chip Ganassi, owners of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Team (EGR), Food Network’s Simply Delicoso star Ingrid Hoffman and fashion and style icon Lauren Santo Domingo. Furthermore, BeLive welcomes NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers and Danica Patrick to the event, as BeLive will kick off the Ford Championship Week, culminating with a heart-pounding race on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Six of the largest non-profit organizations in Colombia joined efforts at Karu & Y Restaurant in Miami on November 15 for BeLive 2007, a gala to raise awareness of the problems plaguing the South American country. NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya, his wife Connie, and the charity they founded, the Formula Smiles Foundation, hosted the gala.

“We were planning 300 people, it was maximum 350. Then it went up to 500 and now its up to 600,” Montoya said. “It’s been amazing and overwhelming with how much support we’ve had.”

The red carpet was rolled out for guests as they arrived for dinner, a silent auction, a fashion show by designer Silvia Tcherassi, and an unplugged concert from twelve-time Latin Grammy winner Juanes.
