Bacon Brothers To Play Hard Rock LA Tonight

Actor Kevin Bacon will join his brother Michael onstage in LA tonight, March 26, for a musical performance for charity.

The Bacon Brothers – who have been performing together since 1995 and recently released their fifth album, New Years Day – will appear as part of Hard Rock Cafe’s March On Stage program, an initiative about helping people who make a difference and giving back to those people that give so selflessly of themselves. Some of the proceeds from the show will go to Musicians on Call and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy.

“I like risks,” said Kevin. “And there’s nothing more risky about being a well known actor and playing in a rock band.”

The show kicks off at 8pm at the Hollywood Hard Rock Cafe, with tickets costing $25 for general admission, or $100 for a meet-and-greet that includes an autographed CD, a March On Stage pin, and VIP All-Access card. Tickets are available at the door.

James Taylor To Headline Musicians On Call Benefit

Musicians on Call has announced Grammy award winner James Taylor as the headliner for their 5th Annual Benefit Concert & Auction which will take place at the world-famous Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square on February 24, 2009. The exclusive V.I.P. event will include a red carpet, with special appearances by artists and celebrities committed to the cause.

As music and philanthropy are at the core of the brand, Hard Rock International has partnered with Musicians on Call for the benefit event, helping the charity to continue its mission of room-to-room hospital performances by both local musicians and national celebrities.

In partnership with Hard Rock International, Musician on Call’s 5th Annual Benefit Concert & Auction will kick off Hard Rock’s month-long March On Stage charitable celebration. March On Stage is a global live music series featuring both iconic and emerging artists as a philanthropic initiative to support music healing organizations. Committed to its “Love All, Serve All” creed, Hard Rock will donate proceeds from its March on Stage events in North America to Musicians On Call.

Springsteen Shows His Heart

Bruce Springsteen recently showed a young special needs boy at one of his concerts exactly why he is still one of the biggest and best acts in rock.

Charity Buzz, an online auction site, is currently selling tickets to a number of Springsteen’s shows in a giant, ongoing auction to raise funds for Musicians on Call and the Kristen Ann Carr Fund, and the 58-year-old superstar took time out from one of his concerts to meet a winning bidder last week. The rocker left the stage during his show at the Toyota Center in Houston, Dallas, on April 14 to talk with the boy, who was confined to a wheelchair. The boy’s mother, who cried tears of happiness over the singer’s generous act, said he shared a conversation with her son and had his photo taken with the young fan.

The concert took place just a few days before the death of Spingsteen’s longtime keyboardist, Danny Federici, who passed away from melanoma on April 17 at the age of 58.

“Danny and I worked together for 40 years – he was the most wonderfully fluid keyboard player and a pure natural musician,” said Springsteen. “I loved him very much…we grew up together.”

As well as raising funds for Musicians on Call and the Kristen Ann Carr Fund through his auctions, Springsteen is also set to play some spectacular benefit gigs over the next few weeks. The first of these will take place at the Greensboro Coliseum on April 28, and will raise money for Project Green Leaf, an organization dedicated to sustaining local agriculture by strengthening community between farmers and consumers. The singer heard about the cause through the World Hunger Year organization, which he has supported for a number of years. As well as collecting money for the cause on the night, Springsteen has also donated tickets to the show to a charity auction being held over at www.charityfolks.com.

Springsteen will also perform a benefit concert at the Count Basie Theatre in New Jersey on Wednesday, May 7, to benefit the historic Count Basie Theatre and help offset the cost of the renovation and restoration of the theatre that will begin this summer. A portion of the concert proceeds will also support other programs and operations at the Theatre. Springsteen’s wife and bandmate, Patti Scialfa, serves on the Board of the Basie Foundation and as Honorary Chair of the Capital Campaign.

“We are excited that Bruce Springsteen will be performing a benefit concert and deeply appreciate his willingness to help preserve and restore the Basie,” said Rusty Young, CEO of the Basie Foundation.

Springsteen has also thrown his substantial musical weight behind the Barack Obama presidential campaign.

“He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President,” said Springsteen. “He speaks to the America I’ve envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that’s interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. After the terrible damage done over the past eight years, a great American reclamation project needs to be undertaken. I believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate to lead that project and to lead us into the 21st Century with a renewed sense of moral purpose and of ourselves as Americans.”

I guess you could say that Springsteen thinks Obama was “born to run” the country.

Tickets To Sold-Out Zootopia Concert Available

P.O.D. Hold Parties And Gigs For Musicians On Call

Grammy-nominated, multiple platinum selling nu metal band P.O.D. will release their new album, When Angels and Serpents Dance, on April 8, and the band will hold listening parties today, March 18, at Hard Rock locations in Atlanta, Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Orlando, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. Instead of an entrance fee, they are asking for a voluntary $5 donation to Musicians on Call, and the band will appear live via a video chat during the parties to interact with their fans.

In addition to the listening parties, P.O.D. will take part in the Hard Rock Café’s month long charity drive for Musicians on Call. P.O.D. will perform at eight Hard Rock locations throughout the USA.

Seal To Headline Charity Benefit Concert

Seal is set to headline the 4th Annual Benefit Concert for
Musicians on Call, an event scheduled to take place at the Hard Rock
Cafe in New York’s Times Square on January 29. Concert organizers hope to raise
money for the charity to continue its work in bringing music therapy into
hospitals, and the show will also feature the sibling country
quartet, Jypsi

The Annual Benefit is accompanied by an auction at CharityBuzz featuring over 100 items, such as a Sting
autographed Fender Bass guitar, front row tickets to see
Melissa Etheridge, a Bon Jovi autographed
acoustic guitar, and VIP tickets to the Late Show With David Letterman. The auction ends February 7, though some items will be
auctioned live at the event on the 29th.

Musicians on Call was founded in 1999 with the mission of
bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in
healthcare facilities to enhance the healing process. To date, their
volunteers have played for almost 90,000 people. Musicians On Call
continues their mission through room-to-room hospital performances by
both local musicians and national celebrities, as well as their CD Pharmacies
and Project Playback programs.

The charity has partnered with Hard Rock International
for the concert and auction, and has raised close to $1 million through
its past three benefit events. Items from some of those past events
