Constellation TV, The Fledgling Fund & Docudrama are pleased to announce 4 special screenings of the documentary, “Bag It”. Beginning November 20th for 4 weeks, a special Sunday series of event screenings will take place on Constellation, a new online movie theater platform.

On November 27th at 5:30 PST/ 8:30 EST, Jack Johnson and his wife Kim, co-founders of Kokua Hawaii Foundation, will host a live Q&A following the online screening of “Bag it”. The November 20 screening will be hosted by Ed Begley Jr..

Jack Johnson Awarded As Arts Ambassador For The Environment

Newly appointed National Geographic Explorers-in-Residence filmmaker James Cameron was one of the guests present to watch singer Jack Johnson receive his “Arts Ambassador for the Environment Award” at the first ever National Geographic Evening of Exploration gala on Thursday.

Environmental anthropologist Kenny Broad and the late underwater photographer Wes Skiles were named “Explorers of the Year”. The National Geographic “Chairman’s Award” was presented to IBM for significantly advancing knowledge of the world through its research partnership with National Geographic on the Genographic Project, which is mapping the migratory history of humans.

Kelly Slater Makes A Perfect 10 For Charity

The Quicksilver Foundation is donating $10,000 to 10 different charities-all of which were selected by 10-time world surf champ, Kelly Slater.

It’s called “Ten for 10” and is a sort-of ‘bonus’ for Slater earning his 10th ASP Title.

As for the donation, Slater said, “Ten $10,000 donations is really special. As a kid I could not have fathomed being able to give such a nice gift to charities I believe in and it was totally unexpected! Thank you again to Quik and the Quik Foundation, and I hope these special groups find this to be a big help in the holiday months.”

Jack Johnson To Be Honored With Humanitarian Award

Jack Johnson will receive the 2010 Humanitarian Award at this year’s Billboard Touring Awards, taking place tonight in New York.

“Jack Johnson, and his wife Kim, have spent the last seven years effecting change in their home state of Hawaii and worldwide through involvement in many social and environmental issues,” says Billboard magazine. "Their Kokua Hawaii Foundation and Kokua Festival support environmental education in Hawaii’s schools and communities. Johnson’s 2008 tour set a new precedent in the music industry by taking an eco-friendly approach to all aspects of production. In conjunction with that tour, Johnson launched the All At Once Campaign and gave 100% of his tour profits to local non-profit partners through his newly established Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation. In 2010, Johnson’s world tour in support of new album “To The Sea” continues to lead the way in sustainable touring efforts to reduce its environmental impact in significant ways. As in 2008, Johnson will once again donate 100% of his tour profits to charity.

“The Johnsons created and produce the Kokua Festival, which now in its sixth year. The Festival raises funds for the Kokua Hawaii Foundation programs and also serves as an international environmental education event that puts into practice some of the most sophisticated and advanced green practices in the live music industry. The Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation has made over $750,000 in donations to date ,and as part of the 2010 world tour, will offer direct and matching donations to All At Once partner non-profits.

Following the success of his earlier tours, Jack Johnson is once again featuring a Village Green at every show, a collection of interactive booths where fans can get inspired to do something good for the planet, and to talk face-to-face with local, national, and international non-profit groups that work in the areas of climate change, water quality, land preservation, and more.

The All At Once Campaign is a social action network that operates both online and at Johnson’s shows, and plans to provide a much needed bridge between fans and the organizations that work to make the world a better and more livable place. It provides a focal point where people can gather and connect, where they can discuss the issues that affect them, learn about the non-profit groups that can help them, and find inspiration to take action in a world filled with hurdles and cynicism.

Jack Johnson To Host Annual Charity Music Festival

Jack Johnson will once again host the annual Kokua Festival Earth Day weekend in Hawaii in April to benefit charity.

The festival will take place April 23 and 24 at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, with a lineup of acts that includes Ziggy Marley, Taj Mahal, Jake Shimabukuro and Anuhea. All proceeds from the weekend will go to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, an organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii.

Jack Johnson will tour North America this summer and give 100% of the profits to charity.

The singer will kick off a 34-date tour in Connecticut on July 9 in support of his new album, To The Sea, and will donate proceeds to charity through his All At Once Campaign. Charities to benefit will include the Kokua Hawaii Foundation – which supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii – and the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, which matches fans’ donations to the local charities featured in the Village Green area at each of his shows (up to $2500 per concert).

The singer has also announced that once again the tour will be green, and will utilize biodiesel for all tour vehicles, reduced waste and carbon emissions, water refill stations, and eco-friendly merchandise.

En Concert chronicles the “special visual and musical moments from Jack Johnson’s 2008 Sleep Through The Static world tour” and features Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. 100% of the 2008 tour profits and the proceeds from the live album will go to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation – which supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii – and the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, which matches fans’ donations to the local charities featured in the Village Green area at each of his shows (up to $2500 per concert).

To celebrate the release of the album, Johnson played an intimate acoustic set in front of a hugely enthusiastic audience at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu last week, with proceeds going to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation.

Jack Johnson has signed a guitar as part of his new charity auction to raise money for the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, an organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii.

As well as the guitar, Johnson has also donated a signed surfboard, CDs, songbooks, photos and a signed poster collection to the auction. Other artists to join him in donating items include the Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper, and Eddie Vedder – all who have donated concert tickets – and Willie Nelson, who has signed a pair of his old sneakers! Jackson Browne has donated a selection of autographed CDs and LPs.

A Wave Of Charity Auctions Hit The Web

The surf’s up for those interested in celebrity internet auctions this week, with three major auctions being run for good causes.

First up is a selection of exclusive tickets to the fifth annual Kokua Festival to be held in Honolulu on April 19. The sold-out concert will feature performances by Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews, and proceeds will go to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation – an organization founded by Johnson and his wife, Kim, that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaii. The funds raised from the Kokua Festival will be used to further support school recycling on Oahu and sponsor field trips to provide students with opportunities and experiences that will enhance their appreciation of the environment.

The two pairs of tickets are available through the Dave Matthews Band website for another four days. Other acts expected to appear at the gig include Tim Reynolds, Paula Fuga, and Brushfire Record’s latest signing, Mason Jennings.
