Lady Antebellum Launches LadyAID To Help Children In Need

GRAMMY winning trio Lady Antebellum announced this week their new charitable initiative called LadyAID, a philanthropic effort created to bring awareness to and generate support for children in need locally, nationally and globally.

The multi-level organization will reach children across the state of Tennessee through grants to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On a national level, LadyAID is supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and on a global level, myLIFEspeaks and The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The LadyAID Fund is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

“The opportunity to play music on stages all around the world has given us so much happiness,” said Lady A’s Dave Haywood. “By establishing LadyAID, we’re going to be able to put a new focus on accomplishing an off-stage goal we have as a band, which is to help children in need.”

A diverse group of musicians, actors, athletes, artists and the nation’s top creative talents are joining the #GivingTuesday movement to help inspire the first national day dedicated to giving coinciding with the Holiday season.

Instead of focusing solely on sales and shopping, these celebrities are supporting some of the country’s most innovative charities, volunteer organizations, global campaigns and community groups as they “get out the give” this November 27. With more than 2,000 partner organizations in all 50 states, there are many ways these men and women are building awareness and support for issues ranging from Hurricane Sandy relief to children’s education to women’s health to aid for veterans…and myriad causes in between. • Charlize Theron and the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) are teaming up with the Center for Living Peace to raise funds for CTAOP’s mission to keep African youth safe from HIV. Barack Obama Meets Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champions

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity that raises vital funds for 170 nonprofit hospitals, visited the White House this week with 51 very special ambassadors: young Champions who are representing the millions of children treated each year at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country.

President Barack Obama met with a child from every state who has bravely battled and triumphed despite a severe illness or injury, and who has benefited from local donations to their Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

“The goal of the Champions program is to bring awareness and attention to the crucial work of our nonprofit children’s hospitals,” said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Children are our future leaders, and these kids are here today because of the member children’s hospitals in their community. Celebrity Charity Wake Up Calls For National Pancake Day

With pancake parties taking place throughout the country, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals balloon sales going through the roof at IHOP restaurants nationwide, public service announcements starring NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young airing across the country, and a strong buzz in support of National Pancake Day, one would think that Children’s Miracle Network and its fundraising partner IHOP had covered every possible base to get the word out on their annual National Pancake Day fundraising event set for February 23. Not a chance!

Today, both organizations took things a step farther: Children’s Miracle Network announced that a number of its celebrity supporters plan to make National Pancake Day wake up calls to remind interested individuals to stop into an IHOP for free flap jacks on February 23, and IHOP announced a “Stacks for Good Acts” online contest offering a year’s supply of free pancakes to the winner.

Country singer Dierks Bentley will host two Music and Miles charity motorcycle rides this year, in Nashville and Phoenix.

The Nashville ride will take place on October 11, and Bentley has enlisted the help of his country music friends Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Wynonna, Heidi Newfield and Michelle Branch for the all-day event that will also feature live music and lots of fun for the whole family.

The ride departs Cool Springs Harley Davidson at 1:00pm CT and will travel through Williamson County and downtown Nashville, finishing at Riverfront Park.

Dierks Bentley To Ride Again For Music And Miles

Country singer Dierks Bentley has enlisted the help of Darius Rucker and Eric Church for a concert to follow his fourth annual Miles and Music for Kids celebrity motorcycle ride on October 11 in Nashville.

Bentley raised over $275,000 for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt during his third annual Music & Miles for Kids celebrity motorcycle ride last year, which also included a concert featuring Tim McGraw.

The 34-year-old singer is also working with the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and CMT One Country to extend the Miles and Music for Kids event to six cities in 2009 and 2010, with all proceeds benefiting Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in those areas.

Marie Osmond Records PSA For Charity Initiative

On Thursday, August 13, Dairy Queen will host the 4th Annual North American “Miracle Treat Day,” when $1 or more from every Blizzard sold on that day will be donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals.

Last year on Miracle Treat Day, Dairy Queen raised more than $4.5 million for 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. A cause partner since 1984, Dairy Queen has raised more than $77 million and is one of the top five contributors to Children’s Miracle Network.

This year, Children’s Miracle Network co-founder Marie Osmond taped a PSA in support of the fundraiser to be distributed in advance of Miracle Treat Day to remind her loyal followers to cool off tastefully this summer and help save a child’s life. “Join me August 13 to help kids one Blizzard at a time!” said Marie.
