Jewel To Help End Child Hunger With Country Music Awards Performance

The Academy of Country Music announced today that Jewel will partner with ACM Lifting Lives to perform a live mash-up of her chart-topping hit “Hands” combined with “Fill a Heart,” an original song written by singer-songwriter Tori Kelly.

This special musical moment, presented by ConAgra Foods’ Child Hunger Ends Here campaign, will be performed at the 48th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, to be broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 8:00PM, live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network. Kelly, who wrote “Fill a Heart” for the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign to bring the story of hunger to life, will introduce the powerful 2013 ACM Lifting Lives moment with Jewel to viewers. This year’s ACM Lifting Lives show moment with Jewel marks the fifth consecutive year of moving performances, which have highlighted worthy causes and provided support on behalf of their beneficiaries during the live Awards telecast.

Jewel experienced significant hardship in her early years prior to embarking on a successful career as a singer-songwriter and selling over 27 million albums worldwide. Without a place to call home, there were times when she wasn’t sure where she would spend the night or find her next meal. This experience provided the inspiration for her hit song “Hands,” a song about desperate times and not losing hope.

The Band Perry Wants To Outnumber Hunger

General Mills, Big Machine Label Group and Feeding America have teamed up for the second year in a row to Outnumber Hunger in a national initiative that helps fight hunger in local communities.

The Band Perry serves as the face of the Outnumber Hunger campaign and will appear on specially marked General Mills products, including Wheaties, Cheerios, Yoplait and Nature Valley.

New this year, the initiative will kick-off with an Outnumber Hunger Live! concert, complete with a star-studded roster of country artists headlined by The Band Perry, the face of this year’s Outnumber Hunger campaign. Outnumber Hunger programs have helped Feeding America secure more than 12 million meals since March 2012.

The Band Perry And Dierks Bentley To Perform At ACM Party For A Cause

The Academy of Country Music announces the addition of ACM Party for a Cause Festival, a 2-day outdoor music festival during The Week Vegas Goes Country leading up to the 48th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS on April 7, 2013.

The ACM Party for a Cause Festival features a line-up of performances by country’s top hit makers and some of this year’s ACM Award nominees, all in the name of raising awareness and funds for a variety of charities. Donations on behalf of Big Machine Label Group, General Mills and ACM Lifting Lives will be made to the charities represented during this celebratory weekend for fans.

Friday’s line-up will be sponsored by Outnumber Hunger, an initiative from General Mills, Big Machine Label Group and Feeding America. Newman's Own Partners With Ford Motor Company To Help The Hungry

For the 12th consecutive year, Ford Motor Company and Newman's Own, Inc. are partnering with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, to donate Ford refrigerated trucks filled with Newman’s Own food products.

Food banks in four regions are receiving trucks this year including Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.

With this year’s donation of four Ford F-550 trucks, a total of 107 Ford trucks and vans have been donated to Feeding America food banks to help deliver nutritious perishable foods.

The band was in Tampa as part of their live tour, and visited Feeding America Tampa Bay to bring attention to the fact that in the 10 counties served by the food bank, more than 224,000 children may not know where they’ll get their next meal. In fact, Florida ranks among the top five states with the highest rates of child food insecurity.

“Together we are Feeding America” is the message of a new series of radio public service advertisements (PSAs) unveiled yesterday by Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, and the Ad Council.

The PSAs feature music mogul and entrepreneur 50 Cent, best-selling author and daytime host Rachael Ray, Today Show co-host Al Roker, singer Josh Groban, registered dietitian and Cooking Channel host Ellie Krieger, and actress Ana Ortiz.

These members of the entertainment industry are lending their voices to PSAs to show their support of hunger-relief. In addition, to raise awareness about the more than one in five children who often suffer from hunger in silence, complementary radio ads were released featuring everyday children.

Kellie Pickler Wants Kids to Enjoy a Hunger-Free Summer

This summer, country music artist Kellie Pickler is joining the fight against child hunger in the United States by serving as the national spokesperson for the ConAgra Foods Foundation Hunger-Free Summer program.

The joint effort between the ConAgra Foods Foundation and Feeding America helps provide children with access to nutritious meals, especially in the summer.

Pickler will kick off the third year of the program by visiting Nashville’s Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee where she will assist in food fulfillment activities as a volunteer and unveil a downloadable activity booklet that offers families a way to donate meals to Feeding America while teaching children about the issue of hunger. For each booklet downloaded from ConAgra Foods’ Facebook page between today and Sept. 3, 2012, the ConAgra Foods Foundation will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal* to Feeding America, up to 500,000 meals this summer. Mitch Albom To Kick Off One Million Meal Challenge

On Wednesday, April 18, Forgotten Harvest will announce its third annual One Million Meal Challenge program for kids and families in need of food this coming summer at the Feeding America National Summit Conference that will be held at the GM Renaissance Center from April 17-April 20.

Mitch Albom, best-selling author, Detroit Free Press journalist, screenwriter, playwright, WJR 760 radio host, television broadcaster and musician will kick off the program on his daily radio program at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18. He will solicit donations that day from the listening audience. Albom is a long-time Forgotten Harvest Advisory Board Member and will serve as the keynote speaker at the Feeding America Summit that morning.

The goal of this effort is to solicit donations to help feed our children in need in the summer who don’t have the access to healthy, high-protein meals that they can get while attending school through breakfast and lunch programs.

The Band Perry Backs Walmart Anti-Hunger Campaign

Newman's Own Challenges The Biggest Loser For Charity

The seven remaining contestants on this week’s episode of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” received a challenge from Newman's Own.

The competitors raced to load trucks with boxes weighing a total of more than 30,000 pounds; that’s the total amount of weight lost to date on “The Biggest Loser,” which airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT. The first to complete the task, Mark Cornelison of Magnolia, TX, was awarded 30,000 pounds of food from Newman’s Own to donate to his local Feeding America food bank. As a surprise to the other six contestants, Newman’s Own announced an additional donation of 30,000 pounds of food for distribution among their hometown Feeding America food banks. In total, the Newman’s Own, Inc. donation is valued at $150,000 of food to help feed America’s hungry.
