The Romanian League in Defense of Animals, Inc is a tax-deductible 501-c-3 charity that helps Romanian street cats and dogs.
They provide food and veterinary care for over 600 dogs from their two dog rescue centers that were built in the past 5 years thanks to private donations and grants.
4,500 animals were sterilized within Galati region in Romania; while the estimated number is 20,000 strays. Our goal for 2010 is spaying 2,500 female cats and dogs.
They run an international volunteer program all-year round and accommodation is free at the shelter cottage, they also have an education campaign in partnership with a local newspaper and a celebrities support campaign to raise awareness about Romanian animals tragedy.
The organization plans to build a charitable veterinary clinic (the first of its kind in Romania) and continue the sterilization campaign in more than one location, helping also another dog shelter that they took under their wing:Fiducia shelter(150 dogs)
Because homeless animals suffer in silence, we must be their voices.
Everyday in Romania, homeless animals wander the streets, searching for food, shelter and even a friendly gesture from passers-by. Romanian League in Defense of Animals (ROLDA) has succeeded in saving many of these animals from their cruel life on the streets.
But there is always more to be done.
