The David Lynch Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to overcoming traumatic stress among at-risk communities through meditation, has launched the “Change Begins Within” campaign in partnership with The Urgency Network, an engagement platform that connects non-profits, celebrities, brands and fans in a single community to mass-educate about the world’s biggest issues and create positive impact on a global scale.

Fans are encouraged to learn about Transcendental Meditation through watching videos, leveraging their social media or making donations online and are rewarded for their participatory actions. Selected at random, the grand-prize winner will receive an all expense paid trip to New York, which includes two VIP tickets to DLF’s Annual “Change Begins Within” Benefit on December 3, 2013, an evening that will honor Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Jackman as well as FDNY commissioner Salvatore Cassano.

The global “Change Begins Within” campaign aims to raise funds to teach Transcendental Meditation to one million at-risk youth and adults, including 1,000 New York City veterans and first responders. “‘Change Begins Within’ is not just a catchy phrase. It’s actually a powerful key to healing traumatic stress and empowering people,” said David Lynch.

“David’s commitment to Transcendental Meditation and his Foundation’s work in providing programs that heal traumatic stress through TM have helped millions of men, women and children worldwide. We are excited to be a part of this growing movement and honored to be working with DLF, through the ‘Change Begins Within’ campaign, to bring meditation to 1,000 veterans,” added Brandon Deroche, Co-Founder of The Urgency Network.

In addition to the grand prize drawing, other flyaway experiences will be up for grabs via The Urgency Network’s “Invite Friends Challenges.” These weekly contests are won by recruiting the most friends to the campaign before the challenge ends and everyone gains entries to the grand prize along the way when their friends take action. These individual flyaway experiences will include events in Los Angeles with Russell Simmons; in Nashville with Brendan Benson, Jack White and Willy Mason; and in London with Russell Brand among others.

“It’s amazing to have so many incredible people participating in the ‘Change Begins Within’ campaign and our collective hope is that, in addition to bringing immediate help to veterans and first responders in need, we are able to continue to raise awareness of the benefits of TM and the great work of the David Lynch Foundation,” said Urgency Network Co-Founder, Donald Eley.

The unique approach of The Urgency Network is there is no purchase required to enter any of the campaign contests; while donations are not mandatory, they are highly rewarded. An equally important component of The Urgency Network is furthering education and action towards social causes. Therefore, users are greatly encouraged to read web articles, sign petitions and leverage their social media platforms, among other free actions, to spread the word. No good deed goes unrewarded and the more you do, the more you get in return.

The deadline to enter the “Change Begins Within” grand prize drawing is November 25, 2013 at 11:59pm ET. The winner will be selected at random on November 26.
