Samuel L. Jackson has teamed up with innovative London-based fundraising platform MyGoodness.com to raise awareness of male cancer.

Video: Samuel L Jackson, "Have You Got Balls?"

The Captain America actor tweeted a video to his 3.5m followers urging men to visit a doctor to “get themselves checked out”.

Highlighting the shocking fact that 30% more men die of cancer than women in the UK, Jackson makes a passionate – and occasionally X-rated – plea to men everywhere to be more open about sensitive medical issues, and to see a doctor as soon as symptoms occur.

The two minute clip tweeted includes the following soundbites from one of Hollywood’s most celebrated speechmakers: “By not getting checked you could lose those balls. Hell – you could lose your life! So boys, don’t be dumb. If you’ve really got balls, show them to your doctor.”

“I offer you the chance to hang out with me in London, fully clothed by then, all you need to do is hit on Mygoodness.com and buy a raffle ticket or loads of them…. to support One For The Boys.”

“Fact: 30 percent more men die of cancer than women. Whaaat? Get outta here! That’s right: 30 percent. 30 motherf***ing percent. Why? Because they don’t get themselves checked out early enough. They don’t want to hear or talk about it, because it ain’t the manly thing to do. They’re too macho.”

Jackson has been a passionate advocate of male cancer awareness since last year when he helped launch One For The Boys – a campaign set up to educate men of all ages about the variety of cancers that can affect them and to encourage earlier detection.

Jackson decided to support One For The Boys after he learnt that friends had secretly coped with cancer without telling anybody.

This week Jackson has teamed-up with the new crowdfunding website MyGoodness.com to run an online raffle to raise money for the campaign. In turn, people have the chance to win a ‘money can’t buy’ experience including a weekend in London, lunch with Samuel L. Jackson and an invitation to join him and his friends at the fashion ball he’s hosting on 15th June to benefit One for The Boys.

MyGoodness.com enables the socially conscious shopper to find stylish handpicked products while also giving back to great causes and charities. The opportunity to meet the Pulp Fiction star is the first of the company’s new line of ‘money-can’t buy’ experiences.

“Hanging out with Samuel L. Jackson for a day certainly constitutes a ‘money-can’t-buy’ experience in my book,” says MyGoodness.com co-founders Nathalie Verrando. Co-founder Severine Balick added: “It’s fantastic that someone of Samuel’s status is prepared to give his valuable time for such a great cause in this way”.

“The lucky winner will no doubt dine out on this experience for years to come!”
