British model and actress Elizabeth Hurley continued her Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign of turning some of the world’s most famous places pink this week in India.

The 43-year-old attended a function at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai yesterday to illuminate the famous landmark in pink lights to symbolize the fight against breast cancer around the world. The event follows Hurley’s involvement in similar events at New York’s Bloomingdales store and the Tower of London earlier this month.

Hurley – who attended the function with her 6-year-old son, Damian – wrapped herself in a pink sari for the event, which was part of Estee Lauder’s breast cancer awareness initiative.

“Every October – which is a breast cancer month – we always wear pink,“ she told CNN-IBN. “When they decided that they are going to light up the Taj Mahal hotel in pink, I thought ‘Gosh, I really want to wear something fabulous and Indian’. So I asked the lovely Rohit Bal, who made me my ‘sangeet’ costume for my wedding, if he’d design me something special for tonight, for the breast cancer awareness show in Mumbai. He made me this saree, which I must say is absolutely stunning. I am thrilled with it.”

The Taj Mahal will remain pink until the end of the month.
