The Academy of United States Veterans and Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, along with CNN’s Jake Tapper will host the 2018 Veteran Awards “Vettys” on January 20 in Washington DC.

The event will honor Dustin Perkins, Director of Marketing for Student Veterans of America – Illinois; Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc.; Sarah Verardo, Executive Director for The Independence Fund; Bunker Labs; and National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP). Presenters include Nate Boyer, United States Green Beret and former NFL player; Shohreh Aghdashloo of Syfy’s The Expanse; Anne Heche, Mike Vogel and Sofia Pernas of the hit NBC show The Brave; and Matt Barr of CW’s Valor. Other VIP guests confirmed to be in attendance include Sergeant First Class and professional mixed martial artist, Colton T. Smith, Veteran advocate and professional mixed martial artist, Harrison William P. Floyd and more…

The Vetty’s honor individuals and organizations who have demonstrated relentless dedication and selfless service to the veteran community and their families. A sixth “Veteran’s Choice Award” will be presented to an individual on site. Honorees will be presented with a coveted Vetty statuette, a custom-designed bronzed military boot placed on a sturdy base that signifies the boots on the ground work of the Veterans Service Organizations. The statuette is symbolic of the organizations and individuals that demonstrate a strong foundation in helping to createveterans’ projects, educating the public on their value, while also encouraging a unified Veterans community.
