Last month, in recognition of both his musical career and his extraordinary humanitarian achievements as Founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), Sir Elton John received the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum’s 48th Annual Meeting in Davos.

“The price of being connected is that we must never turn a blind eye to suffering; it was that fellow-feeling that inspired the Elton John AIDS Foundation,” Elton said, and he challenged the audience to join the fight for a more equal future. “You’ve all made it, baby, but what are you making? What worth does it have if it does not strengthen the bonds of humanity?”

Elton’s complete remarks can be viewed here — he begins speaking at 18:40.
