R&B singing sensation Akon has teamed up with music composer Aadesh Shrivastava to record a single for charity.

The forthcoming song ’Let’s Come Together’ will be released worldwide with proceeds going to the Mumbai Police Relief Fund.

Aadesh, composer for several successful Bollywood films, has also previously collaborated for projects with the London Symphony Orchestra. He met the R&B icon at his recording studio earlier this month.

“Akon has already recorded the track and it has come out fabulous. We are going to hold discussions about how to plan the release of the song. The song talks about terrorism and how it is destroying human values. It also calls for universal brotherhood,” said Aadesh, “The proceeds will go to the Mumbai Police Relief Fund. We feel strongly for Mumbai as the city has been the target for terror attacks and has also seen violence in the form of riots. We had to do this for the city and now since Akon is here, we will firm up our plans.”

Im really pleased that Mumbai is still on the charity radar after the tragic bombings in 2008. I wrote a blogpiece just after it happened, so check out thenewindianwoman@blogspot.com to read my thoughts, there's lots of stuff there about uber-chic bollywood lifestyle there too :)
