KISS rocker Gene Simmons is encouraging his male fans to ensure their wives and girlfriends are checked regularly for cancer.

“One in every eight women will get breast cancer,” he said on Lopez Tonight! on Monday. “I urge you, the guys out there, to make sure your girlfriend goes to see a doctor today. If you catch it early she will live.”

The plea comes after the bass player’s longtime partner Shannon Tweed, discovered a lump on her breast.
