Ben Stiller Gathers Celebrity Friends In Haiti For Charity Meeting

By Tim Saunders on April 12, 2010

A host of stars and famous faces converged on the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince during the weekend to take part in a special meeting for Artists for Peace and Justice.

Board member Ben Stiller and APJ founder Paul Haggis met with Gerard Butler, Demi Moore, Susan Sarandon and Olivia Wilde to discuss the relief efforts and how to maximize celebrity involvement.

Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ), established in early 2009, is a fundraising effort founded by Paul Haggis and friends that encourages peace and social justice and addresses issues of poverty and enfranchisement in communities around the world. Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, APJ has focused its efforts on raising much needed funds for emergency relief efforts in the ravaged country.

Last month, the organization announced that it would merge with Ben Stiller’s Haitian school initiative, and the stars present at Sunday’s meeting also discussed how more schools can be built in the country.
