Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith attended the American Red Cross of Santa Monica's Red Tie Gala last weekend, and helped the charity raise some serious cash by buying a surfing lesson as part of a charity auction.

Jada was honored at the event – held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica on Saturday, April 17 – for her humanitarian work, and bid almost $6000 for the surfing lesson with Warren Metcalf and Garrett McNamara. As an added bonus, she was given a life-sized portrait of herself purchased in the auction by South Pacific Surgery Centers’ Simin Hashemizadeh for $25,000.

The evening also included a gourmet dinner designed by celebrity chef Nick Stellino , a private VIP reception, a Casino and live music, as well as the presentation of a very special “Red Cross Spirit Award” to the cast and crew of the hit TV series “HawthoRNe.”

Other stars at the event included Josh Duhamel and Fergie.
