Four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon has announced the launch of the 2010 Corvette raffle to benefit The Jeff Gordon Foundation.

One lucky individual will drive home in Gordon’s personal 2009 Chevrolet Z06 Corvette following the November 7th NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.

The contest, which raised $500,000 last year, supports the Foundation’s fight against pediatric cancer. Proceeds will fund treatment programs necessary to increase survivorship and promising new medical research committed to finding a cure.

“We’ve raised over 1.3 million dollars in the last four years through this raffle,” said Gordon. “Last year we sold out early and I hope we can do the same this year.”

During the week of the Daytona 500, Gordon filmed a commercial to promote the contest with 5- year-old Haley Ebbert. Ebbert is among the 40,000 children fighting pediatric cancer right now in this country. Diagnosed with leukemia last year, she is in the long-term maintenance phase of treatment and was introduced to Gordon through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“I encourage our generous supporters to take advantage of this year’s raffle,” said Gordon. “Not only for the chance to win my personal Corvette, but to help give children like Haley the greatest opportunity at a healthy future.”

Last year’s winning ticket was one of three purchased by winner Richard Sivulich while 2007 winner Robert Marian purchased a single ticket. And 2006 winner Norma Callis, who is 75 years old, does not even have a driver’s license, although her husband is more than happy to drive the pair around in their Corvette convertible. This year’s winning raffle ticket will be announced live on Trackside on SPEED Friday, October 8, 2010.
