Daytime TV actor Rick Hearst, best known for his work on General Hospital and The Bold & The Beautiful, spoke with LookToTheStars.org’s Misty Griffey about the causes important to him.

Why did you choose to support children’s based charities?

There are so many worthy causes. I feel that children are at the core of any philanthropic endeavor. Their education, care, healing, and support when realized gives other charities the hope that only can be ignited through the support and investment you give a child.

How long have you supported HARK?

I have been a supporter of HARK for 6 years now.

Why did you choose to get involved?

I knew that my life had been and continues to be blessed and felt that it was necessary for me to seek out a cause that I could attach myself to, that I could speak with knowledge and integrity about.

Can you talk a little bit about some of the other causes that you support?

I have always been a supporter of many childrens charities. St. Jude Children's Hospital, ESCAPE Children’s Theatre.

So it seems like children’s causes seem to really be of interest to you?

I feel that when you give a child something of value early in their life, you are planting a seed of humanity.

And how important do you think it is for celebrities to get involved in charity?

I think we as celebrities have access to media and publicity that serves us. If we only choose to take that for ourselves instead of utilize it for others, we will lose the purpose of why we have the good fortune we do.

Look To The Stars would like to thank Rick Hearst for taking the time to talk with us.
