Somaly Mam Foundation To Honor Russell Simmons At Celebrity Charity Gala

The Somaly Mam Foundation will honor Russell Simmons, The Body Shop Americas and Melanne Verveer, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, at its annual charity gala on October 20.

Co-chairs for the event include Lauren Bush Susan Sarandon and Deepak Chopra, and the gala committee includes AnnaLynne McCord, Shay Mitchell, Ron Livingston, Ally Sheedy and Petra Nemcova.

The Somaly Mam Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the eradication of slavery worldwide, with a special focus on Southeast Asia, where the trafficking of women and girls is widespread. SMF supports survivor rescue, shelter, and restoration programs globally, as well as empowering survivors of slavery with job training and education. SMF’s awareness and advocacy campaigns shed light on the crime of human trafficking and involve governments and individuals in the fight against modern-day slavery.
