FACE Africa, a Boston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing access to clean drinking water and empowering women in rural Liberia, will host its third annual Clean Water Benefit Gala on Thursday, March 22nd at the St. Regis New York.

The evening will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, art auction and entertainment. Funds raised at this year’s event will support a new initiative to provide access to clean water and sanitation facilities to the entire county of Rivercess, one of the poorest and least developed counties in Liberia.

FACE Africa is pleased to announce that the 2012 Gala Honoree is Lisa Lovatt-Smith, founder of OrphanAid Africa. Ms. Lovatt-Smith is an acclaimed writer and a former editor at US Vogue who moved to Ghana to tackle the African orphan crisis. The evening will be hosted by interviewer and presenter Quddus and the Gala host committee includes Whitney Port, Oluchi Orlandi, Ashley Bush, long-time FACE Africa supporter Dikembe Mutombo, Claudia Chan, Lauren States and Jacqueline Adams.

“We are delighted to host our 3rd Annual Gala on United Nations World Water Day and excited about our New York City debut,” said Saran Kaba Jones, founder and executive director of FACE Africa. “We continue to be humbled by the growing support for this event.”
