Actress and Convoy of Hope Ambassador, Zendaya, celebrated her 20th birthday on September 1, with a campaign to raise $50,000 to support Convoy’s Women’s Empowerment Initiative.

“I want to help raise money for women who are impoverished,” Zendaya says. “This program helps them take care of themselves and their families — breaking the cycle of poverty.”

Starting September 1, fans can visit convoyofhope.org/zendaya and donate to help women in Kenya, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Tanzania and the Philippines.

Zendaya has been an ambassador for Convoy of Hope since 2012, when she raised money to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. In 2014, she celebrated her 18th birthday by raising funds to feed hungry kids in three countries through Convoy of Hope’s feedONE Initiative.

“We are so grateful for Zendaya’s heart to help women in need,” says Hal Donaldson, president and co-founder of Convoy of Hope. “She is enabling us to bring strength and dignity to people throughout the world.”
