Reality star and skateboarder Ryan Sheckler has followed his first ever charity golf tournament by decorating a special skateboard deck for a charity auction.

The auction is part of X Games 14 – the annual extreme action sports event – in Los Angeles, which kicked off with an opening night bash atop the STAPLES Center’s celebrated City View Terrace on Wednesday night. The X Games will run for the next four days, with a series of events celebrating the best – and craziest – in BMX, skateboarding, Moto X, and rally car racing.

To run in conjunction with X Games 14_, the third annual “Don’t Ever Give Up!” Skatedeck Auction will raise funds for The V Foundation for Cancer Research, an organization founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator. As part of the auction, a plethora of athletes, artists and celebrities have painted their own designs on skate decks donated by Powell Skate One, and these will be on display for bidding inside the VIP tent at X Games 14 and on eBayW0QQitemZ170245292010QQihZ007QQcategoryZ16263QQcmdZViewItem. Sheckler’s design is joined by boards decorated by X Games stars such as Ricky Carmichael, Sandro Dias, Ryan Nyquist, and ESPN commentator Dana Jacobson.

Since 1993, The V Foundation has raised more than $70 million to fund cancer research across the US. It awards 100% of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events directly to cancer research and related programs.

The auction runs until August 9.
