Lady Gaga is using her recent Oscar nomination to give voice to victims of sexual assault.

The singer has been nominated in the Best Song category for “Til It Happens To You”, from The Hunting Game.

“This nomination lends a voice to so many victims and their families around the world,” wrote Gaga. “Thank you to The Academy for recognizing the movement of people who have come together around ‘The Hunting Ground’ and ‘Til It Happens To You’ in the name of sexual assault. Diane Warren and I are simply honored to represent the voices of so many survivors.”

Gaga co-wrote the song with Diane Warren for the acclaimed documentary The Hunting Ground, and a portion of proceeds from the sale of the song were donated to organizations helping survivors of sexual assault.
