By Tim Saunders on October 2, 2009

The White Stripes’ Jack White recently donated $170,000 to a baseball park in Detroit he used to play in.

White made the donation to aid the restoration of Clark Park in south west Detroit.

Deb Sumner – a volunteer at the park – said that the singer/guitarist had been to the park several times and kept regular contact with workers at the park. She revealed that he once turned up with his now ex-girlfriend, "Rene Wellzinger – Renee Zellweger – or however you say it."
