Patrick Dempsey Gives To Hometown Hospital

Television doctor Patrick Dempsey of Grey’s Anatomy has committed the McDreamy act of donating $250,000 of his own money to a hospital in his hometown. The funds will go towards a new cancer center at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.

Dempsey was born at the hospital, and his mother Amanda has successfully been treated there for ovarian cancer. The new facility, called the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, will open on March 31 and will be managed by the actor’s sister, Mary.
