UN Goodwill Ambassadors Angelina Jolie and Shakira have reportedly become friends since their charity efforts brought them into contact.
A friend of Jolie said, "They have so much in common, we can’t believe they didn’t become buddies sooner.
“Shakira loves kids and runs a children’s charity in her home country so they have been swapping tips on fundraising.”
Jolie is ambassador of UNHCR, which works to help refugees, and Shakira represents UNICEF, the UN children’s fund.
Shakira’s own charity Pies Descalzos helps children displaced by fighting in Colombia, while the Jolie-Pitt Foundation funds various humanitarean causes, most recently including refugee relief in Darfur.

I just finished reading Angelina Jolie's, "Notes From My Travels." Although the book is under 250 pages, it took me 2 weeks to read. My heart was broken, I had to stop so many times because of the intensity of what I was reading. I commend Ms. Jolie for her work. The awareness this book has given me about the horrible situations of refugees around the world and left a permanent mark on me. I have committed myself to spread this knowledge to as many people as I can and to work to provide increased funding to this great cause, (UNHCR). I urge anyone who has not read this book to do so.

Nowadays, there is so much indifference; it is like the world is falling apart. The richest societies do not want to hear anything about the poorest countries, and the later are full of resentment of things they had to deal with when they were invaded. Is there a good person to stop and think when a human being takes an important decision, this could affect other lives?, or think that all good reasons or actions to chare to other people who need it most could bring good consequences in those societies self nominated the richest or the poorest countries ?. Fortunately, people like these artists exist. Throwing away for a moment the luxury, which this kind of job or business demands, and sometimes their own demons like anybody has, they came to the ground and demonstrate to many governments, people and leaders that this world needs peace and justice for anyone, especially for those who can not talk and the little ones, the children. There is no such a power like it is the acceptance of our reality in this world and the hope to make it a little better. There are so many things to grace and give that when you see these artists I could say, it is worth to have a dream and look these generous and fair persons taking responsibilities for those problems by themselves.

I think it is so inspiring to see people with the money and the celeb power of the media to do such good things with it. They are empowering to everyone and we should all follow suit with as much time and money as we can give. Every little bit helps and one day may we all live in peace with no poverty. What a nice day that would be!
