Ed Harris has narrated a new documentary to assist a WWII veteran’s crusade to clean up the site of one of the bloodiest Pacific battles U.S. Marines were involved in.

Return to Tarawa tells Leon Cooper’s emotional story of stemming the neglect of the site at Red Beach on Tarawa Atoll, where piles of garbage have mounted, desecrating the ground where thousands of American marines lost their lives in the battle of Tarawa in November, 1943.

“The piles of garbage, such as plastic bags and bottles, food wrappers, soiled diapers, and other trash is continuing to pile up,” said Cooper, who has fought a lack of interest and respect from the US Government for the last three years. “[It’s] an insult to the memory of all who fought and died there for their country.”

The film has been shot by Steven C. Barber, and the trailer can be viewed at the Return To Tamara website.
