Boyzone singer Ronan Keating is back in Ireland today to take part in a special charity walk for sick children.

The star is joining other Irish stars in the annual Heinz Celebrity Ward Walk for the Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

“It’s a really fantastic event and it’s like the start of Christmas for all of us,” says organiser Valerie Keating. "Some of the celebrities appeal to the parents and others to the children so it’s a great little boost for everyone.

“This year the event has been organised to coincide with the hospital’s Ho Ho Ho Day, so our sponsors at Heinz have donated a cheque to the hospital to buy the children toys.

“This is our sixth year doing it now.”

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin is an acute paediatric teaching hospital with 248 beds, employing over 1,500 staff. It is Ireland’s largest paediatric hospital and is responsible for the provision of the majority of tertiary care service for children including the national centre for cardiac surgery and haematology/oncology, major burns, medical genetics and medical research for childhood illnesses.
