Bob Geldof is doing it again – Band Aid 30 is happening this weekend, and a new version of the classic Do They Know It’s Christmas will be released on Monday.

Geldof is reuniting with his original collaborator Midge Ure for a recording session on Saturday that is set to include Bono, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith, Elbow, Olly Murs and many more.

“This is the worst kept secret in the world,” said Geldof. “We will reconvene nearly 30 years to the day. I don’t like doing this stuff, it’s quite embarrassing calling people you don’t know. We called up some giants, and they said they would come again to the party. We had to re-tweak the lyrics. It is something wonderful that this country reaches out… it really doesn’t matter if you hate this song or you don’t like this song, you have to buy this thing.”

Proceeds from the single, which will feature a cover designed by Tracey Emin, will fund the fight against Ebola.
