“Oracle of Omaha” Warren Buffett will lunch with the winning bidder of a luncheon to benefit the Glide Foundation in San Francisco on April 23.

The winner – who bid $1,000,100 to win the 14th annual eBay Charity Auction – will bring along seven guests to dine with the legendary investor. Since the institution of the annual luncheon in 2000, an aggregate of $15.6 million has been raised for Glide.

Annually, Warren Buffett auctions a lunch to benefit the Glide Foundation, which supports Glide Memorial United Methodist Church and its social service programs. The Glide Foundation is one of the most comprehensive service providers working with the poor and homeless in San Francisco. For six years, Smith & Wollensky has participated in the auction by hosting the winning bidder’s lunch with Buffett at the flagship Smith & Wollensky in New York City. Bidding for next year’s lunch will be taking place in June 2014.

Alan Stillman, founder of Smith & Wollensky, agreed to donate an additional $20,000 for the privilege of hosting the lunch. Smith & Wollensky has been called “the quintessential New York steakhouse” by Gourmet Magazine and “the steakhouse to end all arguments” by The New York Times; it features USDA Prime steaks that are dry aged and hand-butchered in house.
