Gloria Estefan is funding treatment for a young boy with Cerebral Palsy.

The boy’s family wanted to start an amazing new treatment program at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, but the $36,000 fee was going to be a struggle. The singer found out about the plight of 8-year-old Nico Fernandez when a fan tweeted her.

“I clicked the link and I saw that Nico’s mom had been doing everything in her power to get him to the institute,” Estefan told PEOPLE. “I knew there was a deadline because she was trying to get him into a summer program.”

Nico’s mother had started a GoFundMe page to try and raise the money for the treatment.

“I told her to keep the money that had been raised on GoFundMe to help with her other important expenses,” said Estefan.
