The International Rescue Committee will host the 2017 Refugio Gala in Miami this week.

The Refugio Gala honors those who have endured tremendous adversity and made long journeys to find refuge, as well as helps refugees who have been granted sanctuary in the United States become self-sufficient, productive members of the Miami community as they rebuild their lives.

The 2017 Refugio Gala will honor Raúl Alarcón, Jr., CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System, with the Champion Freedom Award; actor, musician and IRC voice, Jencarlos Canela, with the Young Humanitarian Award; and the late Raúl Alarcón, Sr., founder of SBS and father of Raúl Alarcón, Jr., with the Corporate Leader Award in Memorial.

Attendees will include honorees Raúl Alarcón Jr. (CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System) and Jencarlos Canela (Actor, Musician and IRC Voice); along with Oscar Haza, Mario Andrew Morena, Josh Barajas, Gustavo Leone, Vinna Rouge and more.

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities.
