Following a serious accident on the set of his forthcoming thriller Oblivion, Cruise was said to have rushed to offer help.

As reported by an industry insider to the Daily Mirror, on 11th May driver David was accidentally crushed by a 700 pound (320 kg) weight. David was left unconscious, and the crew suspected paralysis.

Cruise “swept straight into action”, alerting his private pilot to ready his Gulfstream jet in case David needed rapid transport to a spinal injury clinic.

The actor later visited David in hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he underwent intensive care for four days.

“Tom was great. He gave so much support to David and his family,” the insider told the Mirror.

“It really meant a lot to the rest of the people on the set.”

The actor has a history of providing impromptu emergency assistance to those in need.
