Soledad O'Brien and Brad Raymond today announce the sixth annual ‘New Orleans to New York’ Gala to help raise funds for the Starfish Foundation, which exists to provide young women in underserved communities the resources necessary to succeed.

More than just providing financial assistance to its scholarship honorees, the Starfish Foundation creates a customized support program for each participant to ensure they reach their potential, encompassing mentorship and wraparound support.

The Starfish Foundation annual gala will be held at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City ‪on June 9th, 2016, when guests will enjoy a cocktail reception followed by dinner and a performance by Grammy award-winning Irvin Mayfield and members of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.

“Brad and I are so pleased to be celebrating the sixth consecutive New Orleans to New York Gala,” says O’Brien. “It’s truly an honor to be able to play a part in helping these young women realize their dreams and achieve what many thought they couldn’t. It’s important we continue to do what we can to provide resources to a program that is life changing for these young women.”

The idea for the Foundation came after O’Brien and Raymond witnessed the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2006 and decided to privately award scholarships to young women in the area. The Starfish Foundation was started in 2011 and has since helped 25 young women around the country.
