John Travolta has donated US$10,000 to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund while attending the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Nelson Mandela established the organization to develop partnerships and programs which empower and improve the well-being of children and youth, and promote the rights of children and youth through the influence of public policy and social awareness.

Travolta – who is visiting the Australian football team as an ambassador for Qantas – attended a special event with his wife, Kelly Preston, in Johannesburg during the weekend to hand over the 70,000 Rand donation.

“Children keep you humble,” said Travolta. “Children keep you grounded.”

“You are our futures, we love you,” added Preston.

Children at the event sang and danced for the celebrity couple, before lining up enthusiastically for photos and autographs.
